Before you start!

• With teacher guidance, you’ll need to fill in the planning sheet before you start and then you’ll need to evaluate how you did

Task

• A new drug has just been found which will stop people from dying from HIV / AIDS (although it works more immediately if the person is still at the HIV stage)

• Your health authority has been given 2 doses. You now need to decide who you are going to save (out of the 7) and be able to (as a group) explain WHY you chose the 2 you did to live and the others to eventually die

3 months later

• You have now been given another 3 doses of the drug, so can now save another 3 people out of the 5 left. 2 will therefore be left to die.

• However, the relations of the 2 you HAVEN’T chosen threaten to sue you. You need to make up a group statement to be read out to the class why you a) Chose the 3 you did and didn’t choose the 2 you chose not to. You will need sympathetic language and aim it at the relations
