Early Challenges

Avi Wortis has written over 30 books for children and young adults, but he had to overcome a huge challenge to do so. As a Boy, Avi had trouble spelling. But he loved reading—anything from comic books to history. He later found out that he had a learning disability which caused him to reverse letters and misspell words. Although that affected his ability to write, Avi was determined to be a writer. He had no intention of giving up.His advice: “Don’t be satisfied with answers others give you. Reason things out for yourself. Work to get answers on your own.”
