What is RPLThe National Finance Institute recognises the skills and knowledge gained through work experience and/orpast study. With applicants’ diverse backgrounds, sufficient experience and expertise may have beenattained in the industry to exempt applicants from standard course requirements. The certificate issued byNFI is a nationally recognised qualification and accepted by industry bodies. Applicants for RPL must provideevidence that demonstrates competency in each unit of competency.

[This portfolio may form a part ofyour CV and evidence may include other course certificates/qualifications, accreditations, marketingmaterial, personal references, samples of work, etc.]

Submit a Case Study of one of your completed customer applications (if you have approvalauthorities) including your file notes or if you are involved in collections provide an outline of theprocess you would follow in a typical collections matter. [NB: Any case study should exclude yourclient’s supporting docs and please ensure that information that is confidential to your client is“blacked out” eg. client name, address, contact details, etc.]. If you are in a back office or supervisoryor managerial role that does not involve loan approval or collection work please provide a detailedjob description.

The Assessment ProcessThe documentation submitted by the applicant to NFI will be assessed against each unit of competencyapplied for. The evidence submitted will be assessed using the following criteria:

Is the applicant’s experience and study relevant to the course?

Is the applicant’s knowledge and skill current?

Has the applicant’s CV been verified as true and correct?

Does the knowledge level and skills held by the applicant and proven through the applicant’ssubmission prove a level of competency for each unit/s for which the applicant is applying?

The NFI assessor will then make one of three decisions:

Accept the application and grant recognition

Request further information because the assessor was unable to make a decision on theevidence provided

Deny the application and recommend that further assessment or training is undertaken toachieve one or more units of competence. The applicant will then be advised which subjects orassessments, if any, are required to be completed. If full RPL is not approved, any fee alreadypaid for the RPL application may go towards the course for which the applicant was seeking RPL.Following advice of the outcome, the $695 fee payable for the RPL review is non-refundable ifthe applicant determines that they no longer wish to pursue the qualification.

What Will I ReceiveThe assessment decision will be made within 1 to 2 weeks of submission. Documentation received by NFIwill not be returned to the applicant as it is required to be retained for internal audit purposes. If theapplicant is granted RPL for their chosen qualification they will receive by mail an original certificate and thetranscript of competencies that form the qualification along with the receipt for payment. For someapplicants the RPL assessor will make the determination that some units qualify under RPL and other unitsmay require study. Credit Transfer may also play a part if prior study has occurred. If study of a unit is to beundertaken with NFI the fee is $139 for online study or $179 for online study with a hard copy provided.There is no GST component.
