What did you notice about the shadow puppets? Did they tell a story?

Shadow puppet theatre has been used for storytelling for thousands of years. It is thought to have originated from China or India. What else can you find out about shadow puppets?

Think about a story you could tell using shadow puppets. You could choose a fairy tale or one you have made up. Which characters and props would you need to make? Draw your ideas on a piece of paper first then, when you are happy with them, you could use paper, card or cardboard to make your own shadow puppets.

When you have made them, practise using them to tell your story. Can you perform your play for your family?

Challenge:

Can you make a moving shadow puppet? You could use split pins or fold your paper in a way to make it move.

You will need:

· Paper

· Pencil

· Card

· Scissors

· Glue
