Canvas Media
Canvas Media is artwork that ishand-painted or hand-drawnon canvas cloth. Canvas mediais often mounted on a woodframe and hung on walls. Themethods or tools used to painton canvas may vary, thoughtraditionally these artworks arepainted or drawn by aninstrument such as a paintbrushor the artist’s fingers.

Materials Traditional liquid mediums hand painted or drawn on canvas. Examples of traditional liquid mediums include, but are not limited to: acrylic paint, resin, blacklight paint, encaustic paint, fresco, gesso, glaze, gouache, ink, latex paint, magna paint, oil paint, primer, sumi-e (ink wash painting), tempera or poster paint, watercolor, pouring mediums, or string gel.
Display Canvas mounted on a wood frame. If the artist wishes to frame the submission, the artist must provide the frame. Dimensions and weight of framed pieces must meet guidelines specified above. All submissions must be wired in the back to allow for hanging.

Paper Media
Paper Media includes hand-painted or hand-drawnartwork on fine art qualitypaper. Submissions in thiscategory may have beencreated with pencils, ink, orany other tool used to hand-paint or hand-draw theartwork. Paper Media piecesare also often framed andhung on a wall.

Graphic Design/Print Media
Graphic Design/Print Media isartwork that is printed, forexample through screen-printingor digital printing. Screen-printingis one of the most traditionalmethods of printing, while digitalprinting is the most common.Graphic Design/Print Media artiststypically create their originalartwork on a computer and print itusing one of these methods.

Materials Using the process of printing to create graphic design or print media, such as digital illustration, digital painting, digital composition /manipulation, 3-D renderings, or graphic design. Examples of processes include, but are not limited to: letterpress, offset lithography, screen printing, or digital printing.

3-Dimensional (Sculpture)
Media3-Dimensional(“3D”) Mediainvolves creating asculpture, which isessentially afreestandingobject.

Series An artist may submit multiple pieces of art as part of a larger compilation as long as they are of the same media (3-dimensional/sculpture), and the total combined size does not exceed the maximum specified dimensions (see above).
Materials Three-dimensional representations or abstract forms created by methods of subtraction (material is removed, e.g., carving) or addition (material is added, e.g., welding), or by shaping into a new form (e.g., molding). Examples of media include, but are not limited to: bronze, gemstones, glass, granite, marble, clay, plaster, stone, wax, wood, cement, aluminum, plastic, synthetic resin, metal, or ceramics.
Display Submissions should be either free standing, mounted on a supporting base, or include sufficient supports to hang on walls. Assembly should not be required for submissions in this category (see Art and Digital Installations for an alternate submission category). Basic risers and bases for display purposes will be provided. If the submission requires a particular size or type of support or base, the artist is responsible for providing that support or base.
Photography Media
Photography Media includes photos of people,places, objects, or spaces captured using a digitalor film camera. Photographers generallyreproduce their photographs in print and this typeof artwork is also often framed and hung on a wall.

Mixed/Assembled Media
Mixed/Assembled Media is artwork that combines the above types of art media to create one piece of art.

Materials Any combination of the media applicable to the above categories. In addition to the examples listed above, additional media may include: textiles, found objects, or indigenous natural materials.
Display Mounted or framed, with or without glass cover. If the artist wishes to frame the submission, the artist must provide the frame. Dimensions and weight of framed pieces must meet guidelines specified above. All submissions must be wired in the back to allow for hanging.
Art & Digital InstallationsArt & Digital Installations include customartwork that is created to transform aspace and allows the audience to interactwith the piece using more than one oftheir senses, usually touch, sound andsight. An installation piece will generallyserve to transformthe space intosomething theaudience can fullyimmerse themselvesin.

Weight Maximum weight, including all components: 80 lbs (36.29 kg)
Series Submissions in this category are not eligible to be submitted as a series of pieces.
Materials Submissions may consist of interactive or immersive experiences that are site-specific and designed to transform a blank space. Submissions may require technology or a power source. Examples of submissions include but are not limited to: high resolution holographic projections, projection screens or walls, special programmable intelligent lighting, digital display or touch display, interactive experiences, virtual immersive reality experiences, digital art and motion, digital animations, fractals and algorithmic art, or audio and video captures.
Display Examples of display options include high resolution holographic projections, projection screens or walls, special programmable intelligent lighting, digital display or touch display. Power sources may be required for essential lighting effects or moving mechanisms.
Technical Requirements
Artist must provide any additional technical requirements necessary for the work to function (e.g., power adapter in order to display work in different countries).
Built EnvironmentBuilt Environment refers to themanmade surroundings that providethe setting for human activity, rangingin scale from buildings to parks.Many will relate this to architecture,which is both the process and productof planning, designing andconstructing a physical structure orspace, such as buildings, landscapes,open areas, urban development, andother environmental projects.Architecture can also include thepreservation and restoration ofhistoric buildings and spaces.
Built Environment Submission GuidelinesConsiderations for Submission Summary
While all artists are required to include a submission summary describing their artwork and how it incorporates the creative prompts, artists submitting in the Built Environment category may consider the following additional questions:• What problem are you addressing with this creation?• What is the intended function of the space?• How is this work innovative? e.g., innovation in design, use of materials, etc.• How is the work being considerate of the environment? e.g., use of sustainable energy or
materials, sensitivity to existing surroundings, etc. (urbanity)• How does the work reflect the incorporation of the creative prompts (time,• legacy, aspiration, and devotion)?
Design and Concept Examples of the design and concept include but are not limited to blueprints, sketches, storyboards, or technical drawings.
Artistic Representation
Examples of artistic representation include but are not limited to 3-dimensional models such as architectural models and sculptures; photographs of in progress or completed works; experiential art such as installations; or virtual representations such as 3D prints or renderings or virtual reality models.
Dimensions An artist can make a submission of their Product/Design work in this category by including up to three boards, not more than 24 in x 36 in (594 mm x 841 mm) each or a set of blueprints, not larger than 18 in x 24 in (420 mm x 594 mm) each. The boards may include a site plan, short description of the work, the materials intended to be used, and information regarding the geographic site/location.

Supporting MaterialsBiodata Artists should submit the following information: biography, including name, age, region and country,
artistic background and experience (including relevant education, training, and previous achievements). In case of group, each person should submit the information outlined above.
Submission Summary
Narrative summary (up to 500 words) describing the concept of the submission; how the work incorporates the creative prompts (time, legacy, aspiration and, devotion); and rationale for chosen mediums. This summary will be reviewed by judges as part of the evaluation process.
Art in the Making
Video narrative (one minute) or series of images in which the artist demonstrates the progression of the submission from concept to draft to final artwork.
Images 4-6 images of the final artwork from different angles Digital format must be JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) at aresolution of 72dpi or 800x600 pixels.

Labeling of Artwork
All pieces of art must be labeled with the artist’s name, National Council jurisdiction, and submission category (e.g., Laila Sultan - Pakistan - Photography) . The label should be in a discreet location so as not to detract from the artwork itself (e.g., the back or bottom of the piece).

Film FestivalEncourage entries from artists interested in video production. Artists will showcasetheir talent and abilities with regard to the various components of filmmaking,including producing, directing, writing, motion graphics, animation, experimentalstorytelling and acting

Enable individual expression through film, an inclusive medium that is nowaccessible to a wider population through technology and features available onmobile devices

Narrative or fictional film content is imagined and not necessarily based on facts. The story can represent real events, but these will have been adapted

Documentary - A film using pictures or interviews with people involved in real events to provide a factual report on a particular subject. The goal might be for the purposes of instruction, education, or maintaining a historical record. In some cases, a documentary film may rely on voice-over narration to
describe what is happening in the footage; in others, the images speak for themselves without commentary.

Experimental - An Experimental film canbe fictional or nonfictional and typicallyuses highly creative or abstract ways ofexpressing its themes. It exploresalternatives to traditional narratives ormethods of working. Experimental cinema,also known as avant-garde cinema, mainlylooks at breaking stereotypes offilmmaking, allowing filmmakers toexplore without boundaries.
Film Festival Categories
Film Festival Submission GuidelinesDuration Films are categorized by durations of under 5 minutes or under 15 minutes. Times are
calculated from the first frame (audio or visual) to last frame (end of the film). Film time does not include credits.
Language All films must have subtitles in English, including those scripted in English. The subtitles must be integrated into the image.
Stock Footage Stock footage is permitted as long as it is justified and fits the film, story, and creative ideas of the filmmaker in telling the story. Filmmakers must be able to demonstrate that they have acquired appropriate licenses to use stock footage.
File Format Files of films will only be accepted in the following formats:Video: MP4, MOV, QuicktimeAudio: .MP3, .AAC, .WAVCompression must be H.264 to ensure compatible file sizes.If a film advances to the International Film Festival, filmmakers may also be asked to submit DVDs.

Voice
Performance of song, melody,&/or rhythm, by the voice. Voiceacts may include solo, smallgroup, and larger (choral)submissions in any cultural styleand language. Original and pre-existing pieces (“covers”) may beperformed. Vocalists may beaccompanied by liveinstrumentalists and/or recordedtracks.

Length All performances should be limited to four minutes.
Group Size Entries may range from solo performances to groups of up to 20 performers per submission.
Backing Tracks Backing tracks may be used but they should be free of vocal lines and textures.
Accompaniments Live instrumental or visual accompaniments are allowed, but only the vocal performance will be judged for this category. If you would like instrumentalists and vocalists to be evaluated together, please submit to the Creative Arts category.

MusicMusic submissions will beconsidered insofar as the "act"features the performance of apiece in which the majority of theact is created by instruments.Music acts may include solo,small group, and larger(“orchestral”) acts in any culturalstyle. All musical genres inclassical, folk, and popular styleswill be considered. Candidatesmay play a background track tosupplement their performance,but only what is performed livewill be adjudicated.

Dance
The movement of the body,in solo or groupchoreography. Dance actsmay include solo, smallgroup, and larger troupechoreographies in anycultural style. Backgroundmusic and/or live musictracks may accompanysubmissions.

A creative prompt is a word,phrase or idea that provokesand inspires creative or criticalthought. Prompts are oftenused by artists to help themthink about complex themes insimple and relatable terms.The purpose of the creativeprompts is to ensure that allsubmissions relate to theoverall objectives of thisDiamond Jubilee celebration.
Creative Prompts
For the three anchor events, four creative prompts have been developed to provideartists with additional creative and artistic direction as they develop theirsubmission. In honor of the Diamond Jubilee year, we invite artists to consider theircreations in reflection of one or more of these prompts.
These creative prompts are designed to be a springboard for the artists to produceoriginal work. We encourage all artists to have an open-interpretation and to feelfree to create abstract connections to these themes.
As part of the application process, each artist or group will be asked to describehow their submission connects to one of the creative prompts.

FILM FESTIVALTime - time-lapse of a flower growing. A story about three generations of a family.
Legacy - A script linked to the legacy they themselves would hope to leave. An elderlyman showing his grandson/daughter how to do something.
Aspiration - a set of characters striving for a better life, it could be an aspiration to livein a new country, or for a better world. Little boy looking at his older sister in wonder ashe hopes to be able to do what she does one day.
Devotion - a person tending to an elderly relative and positively improving his/herquality of life.
TALENT SHOWCASETime
● Voice: select or create a song withlanguage about time (e.g., Life cycleevents or a song that talks about adefinable time period or era).
● Music: select or create a piece thatexperiments with change in time (e.g.,Tempo, Rhythm, and/or length ofmelody).

Legacy

Aspiration

Devotion
● Voice: select or create a piece withdevotional themes, such as a selectionfrom an oratorio, or experiment withvocal styles that are alreadydevotional, such as bhajan andqawwali, and blend these styles withother kinds of repertoire.
● Music: create a medley of pieces thatinclude already known devotionalmelodies Interspersed with others, orexpress devotion conceptually (e.g.The adherence to a particular scale,note, and/or pitch that is the basis of apiece).
● Movement: incorporate particulargestures that are devotional in nature,such as “Pranaam” (hands-closedprayer), “salaam,” the bowing of heads,and even sampling such movementfrom across world religions and howthey express devotion.
● Literary arts: select devotional textsto perform onstage, such as mysticalpoetry (e.g. From Rumi and Shams).

All submissions for Jubilee Arts must be the original artwork of the artist(s) whosubmit(s) the artwork. Failure to adhere to the original works policy will result indisqualification from the Jubilee Arts Festival.
All decisions of the Jubilee Arts Pakistan Team are final and will not be subject toreview or appeal.
All submissions for the Jubilee Arts Festival will be subject to review, revision, andapproval by the JA-OT.

COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING
Each Artist is responsible for obtaining the necessary copyright allowances for use ofpublished works in their art forms (e.g., music for dances, footage for films, etc.). Artists aresolely responsible for obtaining all necessary licenses, rights and permissions for third partymaterials included in their artistic pieces, including but not limited to music, trademarks,logos, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights. Artists must retain writtendocumentation of all licenses obtained and may be asked to produce such documentationin the event of a dispute.
Jubilee Arts expressly disclaims all liability or responsibility for any violations of theforegoing.
ORIGINAL WORKSGENERALPLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is strictly not permitted in any way, shape or form. If the Jubilee ArtsPakistan Team or JA-OT learns at any time that the Artist responsible for submittingan entry was not the original creator of the Artwork or otherwise plagiarised theArtwork, the Artist will be disqualified from participation at the National andInternational Jubilee Arts Festival.

ART GALLERY
Artwork submitted for the Regional, National and International Art Gallery must beconceived by and created by the Artist(s) who submit(s) the Artwork. No revisionswill be permitted to the Artwork after it is submitted for judging to the Regionalcompetition for the applicable National Council jurisdiction. Any Artwork in violation ofthis policy will be disqualified from the International Jubilee Art Gallery.

FILM FESTIVAL
All films submitted for the National and International Film Festival must be eitherwritten, directed or produced by the Artists who submit the film for theInternational Film Festival. No revisions will be permitted to the film after it issubmitted for judging to National Competition. Any film in violation of this policy willdisqualified from the International Jubilee Film Festival.
ORIGINAL WORKSGENERAL
TALENT SHOWCASE
Performances submitted for the Regional, National and International Talent Showcase must beperformed by the Artist(s) who submit(s) that performance. Performers need not be the originalauthors, composers, singers, choreographers, or musicians for the musical, vocal, dance orcreative art piece to be performed. Performers must obtain all permissions necessary in order toperform the music, song, written word, or script that they are performing. Performers mustattribute the song, music, written word, and/or script to the original artist.
Performances for the Talent Showcase cannot be substantially altered by the performers aftersubmission for and qualification for the Regional Audition in the National Council jurisdiction.
Any original written submissions for any performances for the Talent Showcase, including but notlimited to poetry, songs, devotional expressions, stories, and scripts, and the lyrics of anysubmissions, will be subject to review and revision by the Jubilee Arts Pakistan Team and JA-OT priorto the performance of those submissions as part of the National and International Arts Festival.
AGE AND CHAPERONE POLICY
There is no age restriction to participate as an Artist at Jubilee Arts.
A Minor Artist is an Artist under the age of eighteen (18) as of 1 July 2018. All Minor Artists mustbe accompanied by a Chaperone at all times during the International Arts Festival.
A “Chaperone” is defined as a parent or legal guardian of an Artist who is a Minor (under theage of eighteen (18)) as of 1 July 2018, irrespective of gender. No exceptions will be permitted.
Each Artist will be required to present official government issued identification (driver’s license,passport, or birth certificate) to identify his or her age and sign all appropriate liability and waiverforms before travel. Each Chaperone must provide documentation to prove that he/she is theparent or legal guardian of the Minor Artist.
ISMAILI ARTISTS
Ismailis and the interfaith spouses and children of ismailis are eligible toparticipate as artists at the National and International Jubilee Arts Festival.
FINAL PRODUCT
Artwork will be considered final at point of submission to the Regional Auditions atJubilee Arts Pakistan. No revisions will be permitted to the Artwork after it issubmitted for judging at the Regional Auditions. Failure to comply with this policy willresult in disqualification from the National and International Arts Festival.
In certain limited situations, the Jubilee Arts Pakistan Team or the JA-OT may requestthat the Artist revise the Artwork. In such situations, the Artist will be allocated limitedtime to make any required changes.
SINGLE PARTICIPATION
An artist may participate in up to three sub categories (two solos and one group) inanchor events. However, they must choose one category to represent theirnational jurisdiction at the International Jubilee Arts Festival.
An artist can not participate in multiple events at the International Arts Festival.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE OVERVIEW
All Artwork submissions selected to be displayed or performed as part of theInternational Arts Festival (e.g., International Talent Showcase, International FilmFestival and International Art Gallery) may be submitted in the Artists’ locallanguage and should also be translated into the English language prior to entryfor International Arts Festival.
The Artist(s) may coordinate with the jurisdiction’s Regional Art Coordinator and theJubilee Arts Pakistan Team to ensure that the submissions are translated to Englishbefore consideration for the International Arts Festival.
ENGLISH LANGUAGEART GALLERY
All Artwork submissions selected for the International Art Gallery must include asubmission summary of the Artwork in the original language as well as translationof the explanation in the English language.
Artists may coordinate with their Regional Arts Coordinators and Jubilee Arts PakistanTeam to translate the summary to English as part of the Artist’s submission for theInternational Arts Festival.
ENGLISH LANGUAGEFILM FESTIVAL
All films selected for the National and International Film Festival must includeEnglish subtitles. Subtitles in the local language are not required; however, Englishlanguage films must also include English subtitles.
Artists may coordinate with the Regional Arts Coordinators and Jubilee Arts PakistanTeam to include English subtitles as part of the Artist’s original submission for theInternational Arts Festival.
All films must include a summary of the film in the original language as well as atranslation of the summary of the film in the English language.
ENGLISH LANGUAGETALENT SHOWCASE
All entries selected for the National and International Talent Showcase thatinclude words, lyrics or any verbal/vocal/oral components must include a writeup of the words, lyrics, and/or other verbal/vocal or oral components in theoriginal language as well as a translation in the English language. For example, theArtist must submit a write up of the lyrics of the song in the original language and aliteral English translation of the lyrics.
The Artist(s) may coordinate with their Regional Arts Coordinators and the JubileeArts Pakistan Team to ensure that the words, lyrics and/or any verbal/vocal/oralcomponents included as part of their act are translated to English and are submittedas part of the Artist’s submission for the International Arts Festival.
INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT
All Artwork submissions must fall within the boundaries of the four creativeprompts (Time, Legacy, Aspiration or Devotion) and all content must be deemedappropriate for audiences of all ages.
There may be additional examples of content that is deemed inappropriate based onparameters established by the Tariqah Boards or equivalent authority, within thejurisdiction's National Council and are not included in the above non-exhaustive list.Please note that the JA-OT reserves the right to disqualify Artwork that is consideredinappropriate, even if it is not mentioned in the list.
INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT
Following is a non-exhaustive list of examples that would not be considered appropriate for the International Arts Festival:
• Images of the Imams or the Noorani family
• Personal Standard of Mawlana Hazar Imam, Imamat crest, Ismaili flag, Nashid al-Imamah, Taj,Volunteer badge, Jubilee logos, AKDN and other Institutional logos
• Clear images of children (under 18) used in film submissions, without the consent of a parent or legalguardian
• Foul or offensive images or language (e.g., nudity, excessive violence, sexually suggestive images orlanguage, profanity)
• Subliminal messages to inappropriate or offensive statements
• Sexually suggestive or other provocative dance moves
• Content that has implied meanings/messages that are deemed inappropriate

Registration Guideline For Jubilee Arts
• To fill out the form, applicants will require to enter their basic personal,professional and category choice.
• Details of all collaborators will be required if they wish to participate in a group.
• Professional Artists are expected to provide the links to photos or video of theirart. They are also expected to upload their Resume/CV and/or Portfolio.
• Jubilee Arts team will verify your provided information as per the eligibilitycriteria and the guidelines of participation mentioned on the form.
• A registration number will be assigned to the applicants after verification oftheir information. The National JA Team will also send them an informationpack explaining the details of their selected art category.
