It was a different feeling, butterflies flying in the

stomach as I landed with the squeaking sound of my flight

wheels onto Narita san.

It was my first air travel but it all started feeling natural

as if I was here before. Butterfly moments were just for few

moments. The mood was exciting. Surfaces were reflecting me

where ever I went.



I mean to tell that it was damn clean. I can’t stop to glorify

the fact that a public toilet had the feel of a saint gobain

glass

"Please don’t laugh Sebastian" go ahead you have not seen

the world yet I said to me.

Easing out steps followed as I trolley the luggage in a cart.

It was 06-06-06 in the Narita airport, Japan, The Land of

Rising sun; I came out and headed to the source of

information, the information desk.



A voice greeted me politely and then I went ahead and

asked in the counter.

"Hi can I get a ticket for a ride to Otemachi by Limousine

bus"

"Yes came the reply"

"How much is the price"

"Its 4000yen"



“Exchanged the yen for a ticket which had some artistic

designs on it. I came to know about it later they call it as

Kanji”

The clock struck 4pm and the giant wheels of the limousine

stopped in front of me where I stood.

My luggage was loaded and many other passengers boarded

along with me.

It was my first travels out of India yet all the faces around

were looking so familiar to me. Well the fact and the exact

reason was all of the faces looked similar.



Just laughed with a memory flashing top of my mind, it was

a conversation with my Mom……I used to call the faces from

the far east as Nokia faces & I see me in the middle of a

ocean of Nokia faces. Nokia faces meant nothing derogatory

nor being sarcastic. It was mere symbolism I assigned it.

Into the reclined position of the limo bus I relaxed and

started feeling the comfort of the serene surroundings. I

was thrilled to watch the traditional Japanese bow before the

bus could start. It was very humbling, selfless and a sign of

respect.



Miles ran by as I was engrossed into the humungous

infrastructure bordered by greenery.

Suddenly I could feel the butterfly in my stomach was

replaced with a rat….

It was one rat in the beginning then there were a parade of

them…..I have no idea how metaphors evolved, to be blunt I

was getting HUNGRYYY

My hand searched through the bag and came out with

cashew nut cookies. Eating while travelling is such a pleasant

experience gave me those heavenly moments.

Heard an announcement that we would soon be at our

destination, it was a good trip so far.



To see the instructions which I jotted down before my

travel transforming into reality was like living a thriller

experience.

I unloaded my luggage and pulled them all over to the taxi

stand. A taxi stopped in front of me and I suddenly see the

taxi driver in strict formals (blazer and tie) stepping out

helping me with the luggage. I handed him over the map and

the apartment picture so that he can drop me there.

It was a strange feeling I didn’t know his language and he

didn’t know mine but we both were comfortable after we

reached the destination



Got down from the taxi, took out my next instruction set

which reads what I must do once I reached the apartment.

It read “Go to key box 134 and press 15828 and enter, take

the keys which come out and proceed”

I became really very curious of the whole idea…why didn’t I

even glance this in the beginning before, will it work???

Now there is no chance to think I have to only act. I

bravely took an inevitable decision “T o stall all my

questions”

Entered with excitement and curiosity, the code word, for

the locker and TADAAAA…….keys popped out. Looked around

felt I just missed a background score ……….



Yes you guessed it right ….from the movie bond…..JAMES

BOND style

It’s a unmanned check in completely automated ,sensors and

it just can’t get any better with all this working flawlessly

with no help and first time in life……..

With this miraculous perception I blocked the door of the

check in gate into the apartment with one of my suitcase since

I was not sure how the locking system is. It was a

precautionary measure to not lock me in with the luggage

out.

I know it was crude but I didn’t even see a single soul

around even if I wished to dream being rude



With all the precaution I was into hotel room. I stepped in

and the lights turned on ha-ha it was great, I suspected if

anybody was around.

I removed my shoes and let my feet slip into slippers.

Like a cat with soft feet went ahead slowly and searched like

a detective, I saw my reflection in the mirror as I passed by

the closet, there was no one a sigh of relief.

World was all new, silent and serene, getting acquainted

to the new room was real fun with all gadgets around. Rats in

the stomach were rocking now & demanding my immediate

attention. All this while they were polite respecting my

sentiments of seeing the new world.

To address the rats I started unpacking one of my

suitcases which had food items from the city I started



Hyderabad, India. In the excavation exercise my eyes fell on

noodles packet which read with big font “2 Minute noodles”.

Hurrah!!! My eyes sparkled as if I have won the NY Lotto, the

assurance of time very comforting, hurried with no second

thought to get this cooked. It was beyond rationale, I was

composed in spite of lacking any experience of cooking for I

was always confident to figure out things as and when

required.

Started reading the instructions on the packet and was

delighted they were pretty simple. To one and half tea cups of

boiling water, I had to add the tastemaker and the noodles.

Cook for 2 minutes in an open pan and stir occasionally until

the remaining water gets drained.



Time just flies by and 2 minutes is no time. I had no time

to admire the craftsmanship of the bowl in which I served me.

All I know is Maggi noodles were such a delight.

Rats in the stomach rejoiced and slept in luxury. After all

the hunger was down had a laugh at myself visualizing the

transition of the butterfly to the rat & eventually allowing a

parade of them rocking in me.
