At Brant Arts we take
pride in having the
most current
equipment. The
electronic mortar &
pestle provides the
highest level of even
mixing of
creams/ointments. .
Ointment Mill
The ointment mill reduces the size of drug particles for enhanced absorption through the skin. It is a necessary
piece of equipment to ensure the best quality product
Electronic (Digital) Balance
This device is absolutely necessary for efficient and accurate compounding. At Brant Arts we also have a printer attachment to record each weighing. This is then recorded on a worksheet which is prepared for every compound we make.
Capsule Machine
Brant Arts has two capsule machines to prepare medication in a broad range of strengths without the use of dyes and fillers which can cause sensitivities.
Rectal Suppository Mold
Suppositories made from this type of mold can be helpful for the treatment of hemorrhoids. The shape of the suppository ensures that it
will stay at the opening to the rectum in direct contact with the hemorrhoid. The mold also features an air vent for each suppository,
enabling the dosage form to stay in the body for up to six hours. Many types of medication can be incorporated into this dosage form.
Flow Hood
The flow hood enables our staff to conduct various sterile compounding from eye drops to injectable
medications.
Medicated Lollipops
Many medications can be incorporated into lollipops. From anti-fungal medications, to saliva substitutes or nicotine replacement products.
Transdermal Gels
• A specially prepared cream base can be prepared that penetrates the skin and gets medications deep into areas like joints.
• Other bases can be used and applied to the wrist for absorption directly into the blood stream for the person who can’t swallow
Customized Flavors for People and Pets
Compounding pharmacists can provide more than 100 human and pet flavors to satisfy patients.
Troches
Troches act like a lozenge to allow medication to be absorbed from the mouth cavity. This can provide a faster onset of action by avoiding the stomach.
Suppositories
Suppositories are used to administer medication via the rectal or vaginal route.
It can be helpful for people who have difficulty in swallowing, have extreme nausea or vomiting or where injections cause pain and anxiety.
Many medications are well absorbed via this route.
Topical Sticks and Tubes
Medications can be prepared in “chapstick” like containers can be used for cold sores, irritated lips or even as a stick to
be applied to the forehead for headaches. Prescription strength deodorants are also prepared in “stick” form.
Medicated Powders
Combinations of prescription drugs along with an oral adhesive powder can be used inside the mouth for canker
sores or other oral lesions.
