Our Business & Computer and Trade & Industrial classes are designed to improve, upgrade or enhance an individual’s skills for employment. Our other classes are provided for those who wish to increase their knowledge of a subject in personal, generally non-worked related areas. INTRODUCTION TO ROPECRAFT *NEW Anintroductorycourseforanyonewhowants to learn how to care for rope, the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of rope and knots, and how to tie several common but useful knots such as the bowline loop, round-turn-and-two-half-hitches, and the taut line hitch. NEEDLE FELTING Althoughneedlefeltinghas been around for a while, crafters are finding this simple technique can be done by anyone and gives beautifulresults.WhatisNeedleFelting?Simplyput,itisfeltingwithoutwater.Instead you use special barbed felting needles to push the top layer of wool into deeper layers. We will make a flat needle felt project with a fall theme. Come join us for a beginner’s workshop in needle felting. Feeincludescostofmaterials.

DUTCH OVEN COOKING Cast iron has a wonderfully rich history in America.Whilemanyfolksadoretheircastiron, there are just as many who are almost afraid of it. Cast iron is actually quite easy to use once you know how! In this class we will help and guide you in the use of cast iron cookware and answer questions you may have, all while preparing (and eating!)somedeliciousDutchovenrecipestogetherusingcastironcookware.Feeincludes cost of supplies.

MEDITERRANEAN CUISINE TheMediterraneaneatingstyleisknown for its health benefits, specifically heart-health. This class will discuss the componentsofMediterraneaneatingandlifestyle, as well as a hands-on cooking demonstration and tasting of traditional MediterraneanandItaliandishes.Feeincludes cost of supplies.

HEALTH & RECREATION

CRAPPIE FISHING SEMINAR Learnthebasic,intermediateandadvancedprinciples of crappie fishing, lures and tackle, and preferred habitat. Crappie fishing is a year-round sport and you’ll be ready for action after taking this course.

DISC GOLF Acoursecoveringtheequipment, rules, etiquette and basic techniques of disc golf. If you haven’t heard about it, check it out at pdga.com and you’ll want to give it a try.

FLY FISHING FOR BEGINNERS Learnthebasicsofflyfishing—there’smoreto it than just casting. Explore the different types of fly fishing with an emphasis on dry flies.Studentswillneedtobringtheirownfly rod each week. Casting practice last two sessions at location to be determined.

TURKEY HUNTING BASICS *NEW This course will cover basic techniques to help you get more enjoyment from thepursuitofoneofMissouri’sgreatestpasttimes—huntingthewildturkey.Thefirst evening will cover calling techniques for the spring hunt using both friction and diaphragm calls (friction calls will be provided or bring your own). The second session will expand on the use of calling techniques and will get more in-depth on all aspects of spring turkey hunting. Topics will include proper set-up, camouflage, use of decoys, blinds, how to deal with different weather conditions, as well as the habits of the wild turkey

UNDERSTANDING LONG-RANGE SCOPES *NEW Would you like to better understand what the dots on your scope mean and how to use them for long-range target shooting and hunting? This class will give you instruction on minute-of-angle and mil-dots, as well as scope adjustment and application. Bring your own scope (off the gun) if you like.

YOGA Explore basic poses to strengthen and balance the body, therapeutic poses to restore the body, guided deep relaxation techniques to calm and relieve stress in the body.Modificationsofposesaretaughtfor any students with specific physical challenges. Bring a yoga sticky mat and a pillow or blanket for relaxation.

YOGA (CHAIR YOGA) Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga practiced while seated or standing using a chairforsupport.Regardlessofyourage,level of activity and physical challenge, you will derive wonderful health benefits from this class. When done correctly,

this modified yoga helps prevent muscle loss, improve joint stability, and diminish pain and stiffness. It strengthens the core muscles, which are the center of the body’s mobility and flexibility used in daily activities such as driving, walking and lifting groceries. MARINE REPAIR This class will address the basic theory of operation of the marine two- and four-cycle engine, fuel systems, ignition systemsanddrivesystems.Findoutwhyyour engine is not running properly using manufacturer recommended diagnostic procedures and methods. Class will include a segment on electronic fuel injection and service procedures, such as engine tune-up andwaterpump.Studentswillhavetheopportunity to apply the above-listed basic knowledge in the shop by allowing the student to work on their own engine or one will be provided.
