What is a University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Master Food Preserver Volunteer? Master Food Preserver volunteers are trained to help residents of Los Angeles County become proficient at preserving food and maintaining food safety. Using a variety of activities such as workshops, lectures and a helpline, these volunteers answer questions about home food preservation methods such as canning, freezing and dehydrating using scientific research based information. Learn about the UCCE Master Food Preserver Program and the training and service requirements by attending an Information Day. Attending one of these days is mandatory for acceptance into our Fall 2014 class. Any Los Angeles County resident who is interested in becoming a UCCE Master Food Preserver Volunteer and can make the commitment to share what they learn with our community is welcome to apply.
