    Bio

    Robert Delaunay was born in Paris in 1855 to an upper class family at a young age Robert was moved to America to live in LA with his

    aunt and uncle who were his main support in his life .He began painting when he was a young man and worked as an apprenticeship in

    theatrical designer from 1920 to 1940.

    Other than this and natural talent he had no formal training his first exhibition was inn 1904 at Salon des Independents he was one of

    the youngest artist to exhibit his work here. And this work was undoubtedly influenced strongly by impressionists art movement and

    work of the time. After this he started to test more methods in his work soon after this l ike taking pointillist ideas and stretching the

    shapes to integrate colour and movement.

    By 1908 he had become fully part and a big player in the development of the cubism and his painting of the Eiffel tower painted in the

    1910 and was perceived with great acclamation.

    In the 1912 his submission to salon des independents called city of Paris which caused a massive impression on the art community

    abstract work has been fought of as inspired and revolutionary in the evolution of French art.

    His work was so new and unique that it was given the name Orphism by an Apollinaire this was down to the way the art had

    resemblances to the abstract music in the 1914 Delaunay started to experiment with wax in his work.

    When world war one started Delaunay moved to Portugal then to Spain where he then worked briefly with the artist Diaghilev and then

    relocating back to Paris in the twenties he also collaborated with the artist Fernand leger in an art deco exhibition and worked on a

    number of set designs for film

    His reputation declined a bit towards the ended of his career but he continued to make artwork and experiment with techniques and

    materials like mosaics sand and treated stone wich was used in his acclaimed reliefs series. He always had a idea of greatness for his

    work witch was finally realized by his commission work for thee international Exhibition in 1937.

    In 1938 working with his wife Sonia Delaunay and other artist and friends he decorated the Tuileries salon where he created three

    enormous rhythms.
