In keeping with Discover Yorkshire Coast’s dedication to improvement and

quality, all of our most popular guides have undergone significant overhauls

for 2017/18. Both The Delicious Trail and The Great Outdoors Guide have

been redesigned and modernised for their new iterations. The Delicious

Trail re-emerges for the new edition as ‘Cuisine on the Coast and North

York Moors’, and is packed with even more local food features and mouth-

watering pictures than ever before. Discover Yorkshire Coast Holiday

Guide 2018 is also subject to a brand new image; the latest edition of the

publication will be printed as a perfectly-bound handbook, with matte finish

cover, reflecting the contemporary sensibilities of our region. The content

for the guide will also be entirely re-written, with exciting fresh features to

promote the events, attractions, accommodations in our area better than

any previous edition. Despite the revamp, the cost for you to appear in the

There have been a number of new requests for filming permissions on the

Yorkshire Coast in 2017, further cementing our reputation as an area of

national interest and intrigue.

In May 2017 popstars Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbot, formerly of chart-toppers

The Beautiful South, chose the site of Scarborough Prison as the setting for

their latest music video, enlisting the help of local actors, actresses and art

students throughout the production. ‘I Gotta Praise’ was filmed on location

in the prison and surrounding area, and has since been featured on the BBC.

The 9th Scarborough Armed Forces Day, held on Saturday 24th June, was

another huge success. Headlined by the RAF Red Arrows, RAF Falcons and

the Battle of Britain Memorial flight RAF Hurricane, the event attracted in

excess of 30,000 people to Scarborough Seafront.

The Scarborough Open Theatre continues to build a reputation as a first

class performance venue on a national scale. Recent headliner Michael Ball

took to the BBC Radio 2 airwaves to tell DJ Chris Evans of his experience of

the venue, explaining that despite the ‘biblical’ rainfall during his show with

Alfie Boe he had ‘loved every second of it.’

Discover Yorkshire Coast has overseen a design update for the town maps

of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. Each map has been redrawn and revised

to include graphic icons, making the area easier to navigate than ever for

our visitors. Each map includes brand new attractions and other areas of

interest. In addition to replacing the High Street maps situated in

Scarborough, Whitby and Filey, each map will be available from map

dispensers around the area, as well as being available for digital download

for desktop, tablet and mobile devices at

www.discoveryorkshirecoast.com.

“Helping you to

better connect

with your

customers”

Discover Yorkshire Coast produces a monthly newsletter which spotlights

the biggest entertainment events that are coming up in the area. The

newsletter is sent out to all businesses; we encourage you to display it on

your business premises for your customers to read. Each newsletter

contains a complete list of all events taking place during the month. Every

event in the list is hyperlinked to a dedicated page on our website, and in

addition the list can distributed to your customers or displayed in

your reception area, if you wish.

You can also click through to our newsletter database here, where you

can view all of our current business and entertainment newsletters, as well

as archived publications.

Discover Yorkshire Coast offers a range of widgets to expand the

functionality of your website.

For the uninitiated, a widget is a tool which you embed on your website—

you can think of it as a digital noticeboard. Once embedded the widget

displays a wide range of accommodation, attractions and events,

depending on the nature of your business.

The employment of a widget will give your visitors the ability to plan an

entire stay in your area, including booking accommodation, transforming

your website into a self-contained, all-inclusive package.

To get a Discover Yorkshire Coast widget for your website simply fill out

the form on our website and we’ll do the rest!
