• They feared a concentration of power and the ill effects of this concentration of power, with each branch checking each other none of them will gain absolute power

• President and Congress take office in January instead of March after an election so as to prevent officials who were voted out from continuing their functions for three months after being voted out

Where is the “full faith and credit” clause found and what does it mean?
• Article IV, states have to recognize each others official acts like marriage, divorce, and adoption (Congress can set what acts are included and how)
What is extradition and where is it found?
• When a state requests another state to send a suspect of a crime back to the original state, found in Article IV
What are the two ways an amendment is ratified?
• ¾ of state legislatures must approve it by a majority vote
• ¾ of states must approve in special conventions
What are the two ways an amendment can be proposed?
• It must pass Congress by a 2/3 vote, both House and Senate
• It must be approved by a convention called by Congress because 2/3 of the states requested the amendment be proposed
What component of ALD is shown in the amendment process? How?• Federalism, proposals are done at the
national level and ratification is done at the state level
In what article does the US assume the debt of the confederation? Why?
• Article VI, this gave legitimacy to the new nation by showing foreign states that it will honor commitments as well as the men who lived in the US that had loans out to the confederation
What does the supremacy clause mean and where is it found?
• National law trumps state law if they differ, Article VI
