What do you do when youreBy: Grace Teter, Kelsi Robinson, and Kimberly Coffer Stuck?Read it again! The first thing to do is read the problem again. This can help by catching something you couldve missed the first time. Look at the lesson!Looking back at any notes that you took during opening can help you focus on the objective and your prior knowledge. You may find hints that point you in a direction. WHAT ARE WE LEARNING

Our anchor charts help by giving a visual reminder of a skill. Some give an example. Some have step-by-step instructions. They all help you understand the strategy.Look at the WallLook at yesterdays workOur objective for the day usually builds from what we learned yesterday. See how yesterdays work might relate to the problem. I bet that you will see a connection!Look back at the Powerpoints Go onto netschool and review the Powerpoints from earlier in the week. You may start to remember something that you can use to get you unstuck.Write down your mathematical question This could help you get a better understanding of the question and possibly help you catch something you missed the first time.Remember what you know Instead of focusing on what you dont get, think about what you DO know that you may be able to use. You may pick up a more efficient strategy in closing later, but for now, use what youve got!Draw a diagram or pictureThis can really help you by working out the problem visually.Model the problem using manipulativesYou could use manipulatives (cubes, counters, etc.) to help better understand visually. Then ask the teacher Once you have done all the other options and you are still stuck, ask the teacher for directionbut by that time, Im sure that solo time will have run out and you can work with your group now to come up with some strategies together instead. This is our hip hoppin shoulder poppin jingle

This is what you do ooh x3 when you get stuck 12THE END
