Education: We offer classroom workshops
for all grade levels as well as teacher P.D.
free of charge. Call us and we will come
to your school. We also offer training and
consultation to other organizations.
Resources: Access our library, our online
resources, or contact our staff for resources
on the specific topic you need.
GSA Support: We can help make your
school’s GSA stronger and share fun ideas
or activities. If you don’t have a GSA we
will help you start one!
Programs are offered in multiple locations
in the province. For full program or event
descriptions and locations visit:
www.youthproject.ns.ca
All activities are drug and alcohol free. Programming and activities are for youth 25 and under, unless otherwise specified. Education services available for all ages.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Diversity in sexual orientation and gender
identity is normal and natural. There are
many others in your school or community
who are part of the LGBTQ2+ community,
or are questioning.
At The Youth Project we value and celebrate
diversity. We want everyone to feel safe and
comfortable exploring and expressing their
identity. That includes celebrating and
respecting everyone on the basis of race,
nationality, religion, size, ability and
(dis)abilities.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
Support: The chance to talk one-on-one
in a confidential space with someone who
understands. Ask questions, talk through
issues, access resources, and get support on
LGBGTQ2+ issues. This is a free service.
Programming and Social Events (The fun
stuff): Our programming and events are a
chance to be in a safer space, have fun, meet
people with similar experiences, build
connections, and get information.
We have monthly drop-ins, game nights,
discussion groups, trans specific groups and
more. Our special events include Queer Prom,
Summer Camps, Pride Events and
a GSA Conference.
“I’ve never felt happier, more free, more surrounded by people who love and accept me”
“Meeting kids like me makes me feel like I’m not broken. I feel accepted. I feel normal for once and that feels pretty great.”

WHY THE SEAHORSE?
They have both opposite and same-sex relationships. Also, they are known for challenging gender roles and stereotypes (the male seashorse carries pregnancies to term!)

ABOUT THE YOUTH PROJECT
We are a not for profit organization
serving the needs of LGBTQ2+ youth
in Nova Scotia since 1993.
LGBTQ2+ refers to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, 2 spirit, pansexual, asexual and other identities related to sexual orientation or gender identity.
Our mission is to make Nova Scotia a safer,
healthier, and happier place for LGBTQ2+
youth through support, education, resource
expansion and community development.
We work to build a welcoming, supportive
and affirming community where you can
make friends and connect with others with
similar experiences.
We value youth leadership. Youth can
join our youth board and help direct our
programming and operations.
