Religion in Slovenia

• The most common religion is Catholic. • It is not a part of the school education. • Those who are religious go to church in

their free time. • Children also attend hours of religious education and go to First Communion and Confirmation.

School rules

• In our school, there are certain rules • They are written in the House order. • If you do not respect those rules you

can be punished by headmaster. • At first we get a warning, then the

class teacher calls your parents and finally you can be excluded.

How are we dressed?

• In our country we do not have school uniforms.

• We can be dressed how we like.• In some cases this is not very good,

because the poor pupils can be eliminated from the others.

Meals

• During a day we have five meals. • Breakfast is very important and a small meal which

is eaten at home. We eat cereals and sandwiches. • Lunch is eaten at school. For lunch (a snack) we

have bread, sausages, cheese, pasta and tea. • The most important meal is dinner. It is served at

school or at home. At the weekend, when we are at home, we eat soup, potato, meat and salad for dinner. There is sometimes a dessert after that.

• In the afternoon we eat a snack which contains fruit.

• In the evening we eat our last meal, called supper. It is a very small meal.

Traditional dishes

• The most traditional dishes in our country are some kinds of soups, roasted potato, black pudding and potica.

Prohibited food

• We do not have food which is prohibited to eat.

• Those who are Catholic do not eat meat on Ash Wednesday and on Friday before Easter.

• It is also advised not to eat meat every Friday.
