INVOLVED PROFESSORS

LVC’s caring, dedicated professors enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience. Because LVC is a close-knit community, professors make a point of really getting to know their students—meeting with them outside of class, attending their performances, or cheering them on from the sidelines at games.

SMALL CLASSES

Learning works best when students are involved. That’s why the average class size at LVC is only 20, and why so many classes are based on discussion—instead of the lecture-style courses that are the norm at larger colleges and universities.

LEARN EVERYTHING

A liberal arts education is about exploring many subjects and delving into unfamiliar topics—such as economics, art history, or computer science—that you might not have been able to study in high school. It’s about using different parts of your brain, learning the basics of many fields, and, oftentimes, discovering a new passion.

MusicWhether studying theory and performance or learning the basics of music business, education, or recording technology, LVC students explore a variety of professions within the music industry.

During LVC’s ninth annual VALE music conference (the College’s student-created music business enterprise), the student-run VALE Music Group LLC, released its first record—Scott Eggert: Volume 1. VALE’s other ventures have also been busy of late: VALE Records has signed its first band, Sheridan Avenue; VALE Publishing is creating a music catalog; and VALE booking is just getting started. Innovative and homegrown, VALE helps LVC students cultivate experiences and connections that jump-start their careers.

DIG DEEP

In addition to exploring many subjects, you’ll choose one (or two) to focus on. Some majors relate directly to specific careers—accounting or digital communications, for example—while others build skills and knowledge that will be useful in anything you do.

Physical Therapy

Backed by outstanding facilities and having gained practical experience by working with LVC athletes, students in this six-year program graduate with a doctor of physical therapy degree.

Students tend to love their LVC experience so much that they keep in touch with the College throughout their lives, helping young graduates however they can—whether through career guidance, referrals, or internships . LVC’s 48 resident assistants are upperclass students who live in the residence halls and help freshmen adjust to college life—making sure they have the guidance and resources they need to succeed .

Through an internship position, you can try out a career that interests you and apply the things you’ve learned in class to a professional setting. Internships look great on a résumé because employers want to hire people with actual work experience. More than 65 percent of LVC students complete a professional internship, student teaching, or field/clinical experience .

VISITING ARTISTS

LVC regularly hosts visiting musicians, artists, comedians, and other types of performers. For example, Ben Bailey, Secondhand Serenade, and comedian Ross Matthews have all performed here in recent years.

LVC’s extensive music facilities include numerous classrooms, teaching studios, practice studios, rehearsal halls, and state-of-the-art recording studios.

SERVICE AND VOLUNTEERING

More than 60 different student organizations and sports teams contribute to LVC-sponsored community service projects each year. Giving back is part of what it means to be an LVC student .

ATHLETIC FACILITIES

LVC’s award-winning athletic facilities include a state-of-the-art fitness center, a 75-acre field complex, a 36,000-square-foot gymnasium, a 200-meter indoor track, six outdoor tennis courts, and a 25-meter pool.

When flooding threatened Annville in the fall of 2011, McKenna Snyder and several of her friends got involved with the relief effort through the local fire company—and kept volunteering long after the crisis passed. For McKenna, “The Annville Fire Department truly embodies the spirit of volunteerism . My friends and I love the family we’ve found at Station 5, and couldn’t imagine our LVC experience without them!”

LVC sponsors regular weekend trips (including free bus fare) to such activities and destinations as paintball, ski trips in the Poconos, Philadelphia Flyers games, Rehoboth Beach, the Lancaster Outlets, and New York City .
