• Once kids are gone from school,they don’t come back – so target Yrs 7-10
• External programs rapidly slide to“Mountain Top Experiences”
• These kids often have long term problems, so short term interventions don’t last

Work outside the square• Give them a release valve 1 day per week
• Give them a place to belong in the school
• Give them high Tch:Std ratios (2:10)• Give them strong relationships and an
alternate peer group
