What Art can I do at home? Here are a few ideas and

starting points that you can use to inspire you to create art at home – have fun and enjoy

Household objects Rubbings- crayons

Create a colour wheel with household objects. Take a picture.

Cut out facial features from a magazine and arrange them in funny face collages.

Listen to music and draw lines and shapes that match the sounds and rhythms you hear.

Use cardboard tubes or make circles from paper. Create a 3D sculpture

Pick some flowers from your garden and create a still life picture or painting. Or draw some fruit in a bowl.

Use blocks, Lego or boxes to create a 3D sculpture.

Create your own modelling clay- look for a recipe or try this one ( with an adult to help you) 1 cup salt 1 cup flour ½ cup water

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. In a large bowl mix salt and flour together.

2. Gradually stir in water. Mix well until it forms a

doughy consistency.

3. Turn the dough onto the bench and knead with

your hands until smooth and combined.

4. Make your creations using the salt dough.

5. Place the salt dough creations into the oven at

180C. The amount of time needed to bake depends

on the size and thickness of the salt dough

Use a camera or smart phone and take photos of an object from many different viewpoints.

Create some Yarn bombs on sticks you find in your backyard. Wrap the sticks in coloured wools.

Drawing ideas

Draw the view from a window in your house

Lay under a tree and draw what you see

Draw an outline of your pet and fill with patterns and colour

Draw your family and give each person different expressions

Draw/ paint a landscape

Invent and draw an insect

Draw your house on newspaper

Cut your initials out of cardboard and decorate with patterns and colour

Cut up pieces of newspaper to create a city collage. Add outlines and windows in black.

Experiment with chalk and wet paper- see what happens to the colours when they get wet.

Put drops of food colouring on paper. Spray with water and see what happensto the colours. Or blow with a straw – you’ll get two different results. Cut them up to make a collage of flowers.

Create a mixed media portrait of yourself. Print a black and white A4 photo, add color with textas, tissue paper, wool and whatever objects you can find.

Fold, tear and cut paper in as many different ways as you can, Create a 3D sculpture from it.

Create positive nagative shapes.Trace around your hand or draw different shapes. Cut out you shape, flip it and glue onto different colour paper.

Try some different paper weaving techniques. You don’t have to just use coloured paper. Try newspaper and magazines.
