LEADERS ARE ESTABLISHED BY GOD

If you take a moment to read Jeremiah 23:5 you

will find that God raises up people and causes them

to reign and prosper for the purpose of executing

judgment and justice in the earth.

If you take a moment to read 1 Peter 2:13-17

you will find that God’s desires for us to honor and

submit ourselves to those He’s allowed to be

placed in authority and leadership. But do notworry about those governments and those inauthority who prove to be cruel and unjust; forevery person in authority will have to give anaccount of their actions come judgment day.Governments are established and allowed to rule

by God. And our governors as authority figures are

established by our Creator for the punishment of

those who do wrong and the praise of those who

do right. Scripture is very clear on this point, as it

teaches us to honor all people, and to love our

brothers and sisters as we fear God.

If you take a moment to read Romans 13:1-2

you will find that every person should be subject

to the governing authorities. The scriptures goes

even further in teaching us that there’s no author-

ity except from God, and those that exist have

been instituted by God. So when you see people

disrespecting and resisting “GOD’S SERVANTS”

they’re actually disrespecting and resisting God.

Furthermore, they’re in complete and total rebel-

lion against God’s elect.

GOD CREATED US AND EVERY OTHER

LIVING CREATURE MALE AND FEMALE FOR

THE PURPOSE OF PROCREATION

If you take a moment to read Genesis 1:21-22 you

will find that God created great whales, and every

living creature that moves, which the waters brought

forth abundantly, after their own kind, and every

winged fowl He also created after their own kind.

And the bible says that God saw that it was good for

the creatures that He’d created to procreate in the

earth. The scriptures furthermore teaches us that

God blessed the creatures, and instructed them to

be fruitful, and multiply in the earth.

If you take a moment to read Genesis 1:27-28 you

will find that God created man in His own image; but

He made us as male and female for the purpose of

reproducing and repopulating the earth. God also

called us blessed, and has commanded us to be fruit-

ful, multiply, and replenish the earth, and to subdue it.

A FEW AWESOME THINGS ABOUT THE

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

We are “ONE NATION UNDER GOD” in America.

We are a nation of laws divinely ordered and estab-

lished by our Creator. And in this, our Creator has

given us a say in who governs over us as a nation.

However, far too many of us are choosing to not

participate in the process which God has estab-

lished to assist us with putting godly people in au-

thority and control of our nation.

New Living Translation

"When the godly are in authority, the people

rejoice. But when the wicked are in power,

they groan." - Proverbs: 29:2

OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS CITIZENS

OF THIS GREAT NATION

As a “COLLECTIVE BODY” of people we must

make a more concerted effort to be a part of the

solution our nation needs during this crucial hour

and moment in history.

Our responsibility as Americans is to take part in the

elections process; then once we have spoken as a

“COLLECTIVE BODY” of people we must honor the

choices we have made. Our “PUBLIC SERVANTS”

are elected by a majority of voters on Election Day.

This is why every eligible American citizen should

be a part of the process of voting.

WHAT AMERICANS SHOULD DO ONCE

AN ELECTION IS DECIDED

In the best interest of our nation, we should submit

to whichever government we find ourselves under

once we have spoken as a people on Election Day.

We can do this by working with our “ELECTED OF-

FICIALS” to accomplish what’s best for us as “ONE

NATION UNDER GOD”.

EVERY FOUR YEARS

Our founding fathers under the direction of our Cre-

ator has established a system that affords us the

opportunity to choose our leaders every four years.

In this system, our Creator affords us the opportu-

nity to elect other “SERVANTS OF GOD” to posi-

tions of authority as a counter balance to guard

against the abuse of power by any one we have

elected as our president; that's why our founding fa-

thers were divinely directed by our Creator to estab-

lish the United States Senate and United States

House of Representatives.

WE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO CAN CHANGE

THE WORLD WE LIVE IN

Even though those in authority are “SERVANTS OF

GOD” our Creator has afforded us a system of gov-

ernment that is kept in check by our constitution and

not by whomever is acting as our "PUBLIC SER-

VANTS" at any particular time. So don’t ever forget

that America is a government of the people, by the

people, and for the people. And under this God-or-

dained political system of democracy we are

granted certain rights. With this said, we must know

our rights to be EFFECTIVE AND EMPOWERED as

citizens of America.

“My mission is to serve families in times of crisis in a thoughtful, compassionate, and deliberate way, whether that crisis involvesthe loss of a loved one, the need for a guardianship, or a mental health issue.” - JUDGE CHRISTINE RIDDLE BUTTS

BUTTSChristine Butts was raised in Houston and

graduated from Westfield High School. While

in high school, she worked with her father, a

probate lawyer, in his small law firm. She went

on to graduate from the University of Texas at

Austin with a bachelor of business adminis-

tration degree. Soon after college, she mar-

ried Donald Butts and studied law at the

University of Houston. After graduating from

law school, Christine joined her father's bou-

tique estate planning and probate firm. Serv-

ing clients in a private practice has enabled

her to learn a great deal about probate,

guardianship, and mental health issues. More

importantly, private practice has given her a

balanced perspective and a view into how

these issues impact families.

In 2010, Christine was elected as the judge of

Harris County Probate Court 4, where she, along

with the other probate judges, developed the fol-

lowing enhancements designed to improve the

courts' service to the public and increase efficiency

for the attorneys practicing in the probate courts:

• The Guardianship Handbook was created

and published in English

and in Spanish. It is now given to every

person appointed as a guardian

• The courts offer a free Continuing Legal Ed-

ucation program every quarter

• The Standards for Attorney Fees were up-

dated and clarified

• Helpful Guidelines designed to assist attor-

neys seeking help with less common probate pro-

cedures were published to the court’s website and

are offered in the offices of the court free of charge

Throughout her legal career, Christine has been

dedicated to the mission of helping families in

crisis, as evidenced by the following professional

accomplishments, recognition, and leadership:

• Board Certified in Estate Planning and

Probate by the Texas Board

of Legal Specialization since 2003

• Attorney ad Litem appointed by the

probate courts in probate and

guardianship matters

• Former Partner in the boutique probate

and estate planning firm,

Riddle, Butts & Akiens, LLP

Council of Houston

• Member of Attorneys in Tax and Probate

• Member of Disability and Elder Law

Attorneys Association

• Member of Pasadena Bar Association

• Member Association of Women Attorneys

• Board Member of National College

of Probate Judges

• Published works located at

Christine is dedicated to her community. She is a

sustaining member of the Junior League of Hous-

ton and served as a seamstress for many years

making blankets and diaper bags for young

mothers. She and her husband enjoy raising

their four children, raising money for MS through

bike riding, and hiking in the Hill Country.

MAKE THE WRIGHT CHOICEON TUES., NOVEMBER 4TH!

Message from Judge Loyd Wright

On November 2, 2010, I had the honor and privilege of being elected

Judge of Harris County Probate Court No.1, one of the busiest probate courts

in the United States of America. I am a native Houstonian and life-long conser-

vative. I am now in my fourth year as judge and it has been the greatest experi-

ence of my professional career. As

an attorney with over 27 years ex-

perience in probate, guardianship,

estate planning, trust and elder

law, I developed a reputation for

handling the matters entrusted to

me with diligence and integrity. I

often represented administrators,

executors, guardians, trustees and

beneficiaries in complex probate

proceedings, and recovered mil-

lions of dollars in assets lost

through fraud and breach of fiduci-

ary duty. Over the years, I was also

appointed by the probate judges to

handle both contested and uncon-

tested estate and guardianship

matters. The experience I garnered

over the last thirty years has

served me well on the bench.

Prior to coming to the bench, I

was licensed to practice in all

Courts in the State of Texas, the

United States District Court (South-

ern District), the United States

Court of Appeals (5th Circuit), and

the United States Tax Court.

I also served two terms as a member of the District 4A grievance com-

mittee (which disciplines attorneys) and served as Chair in 1994. I am a

member of the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Probate and Trust Section,

Taxation Section and Litigation Section and the Houston Bar Association

Probate, Trusts and Estate Section, Taxation Section and Litigation Section. I

also belong to the Houston Business and Estate Planning Council and the

Houston Estate and Financial Forum.

I received my JD from the University of Houston in 1981, and a BBA (1977 - ac-

counting) and MBA (1980 - accounting/taxation) from the University of Texas.

By the time my opponent received her law license, I had been practicing

probate law for two decades. This race is a choice between my combined 30

years of probate and guardianship experience and my opponent's 11 years of

legal experience and minimal probate experience. My race is just one example

of the consequences of judicial elections.

I welcome the opportunity to continue to earn your trust and support as

Judge of Harris County Probate Court No. 1.On November 4th, I would be hon-

ored and privileged to have your vote.

This "FREEDOM"acronym has been

developed by Aubrey R. TaylorCommunications, the publisher of

Houston BusinessConnections

Magazine for peopleof faith; but it can be

used by anyone looking to make an

informed and empowered decisionin any given election.

T H E [ F ) R E P R E S E N T S

– F A I T H –The (F) in “FREEDOM” represents our “FAITH”.We should be trying to identify the candidates whomwe believe are governed by the same guiding princi-ples of “FAITH” that we're governed by. Using our“FAITH” as our guide will provide each of us witha much greater chance of selecting the “PUBLICSERVANTS” who best identify with our core val-ues and beliefs on issues, concerns and causesthat are near and dear to our heart.

T H E ( R ) R E P R E S E N T S

– R E S P E C T –The (R) in “FREEDOM” represents “RESPECT”.We should be trying to do as much research as pos-

sible on each campaign before we go to the polls to

vote. In our research, we should be trying to identify

the most respectful candidates. During this process,

we should also be trying to identify the candidates

who are doing nothing but running negative cam-

paign advertisements in their attempt to destroy their

opponent/opponents. Identifying the most “RE-

SPECTFUL” candidate may seem like a daunting

and time consuming task; but taking this crucial

step will aid you in selecting the candidates who

are more likely to “RESPECT” your position on is-

sues, causes and concerns that are near and dear

to your heart.

T H I S ( E ) R E P R E S E N T S

– E X P E R I E N C E –The first (E) in “FREEDOM” represents “EXPERI-ENCE”. We should be trying to identify the candidates

who have the relevant “EXPERIENCE” needed to

faithfully perform the duties required for the office or

position they’re seeking. By selecting the most

experienced candidate, we will also be getting

the candidate most qualified and prepared to

represent us on issues, causes and concerns

important to us and our futures.

T H I S ( E ) R E P R E S E N T S

– E D U C A T I O N –The second (E) in “FREEDOM” represents “EDU-CATION”. We should be trying to identify candidates

who have the educational background needed to per-

form the duties required to faithfully serve us from

day one. This is especially important in judicial races.

It is not in our best interest to elect someone who is

a plumber by trade as the next Supreme Court Jus-

tice for the State of Texas. Selecting the candidates

with the relevant educational background to

match the duties required for the office for which

they're running is crucial in any election.

T H E ( D ) R E P R E S E N T S

– D E B A T E –The (D) in “FREEDOM” represents “DEBATE”. Some

candidates run from debates. But debates play a crucial

role in helping us to relate to candidates; find out where

candidates stand on crucial issues near and dear to us;

and enable us to identify the areas of strength a candi-

date may or may not posses. All candidates should be

open to debates. Debates are also a very good way for

us to identify how a candidate we're thinking about sup-

porting responds under pressure; how quickly they can

think on their feet; and whether or not they're knowl-

edgeable and well-rounded. If you select the best de-

bater, you could very-well be getting the person you

want to be speaking on your behalf on issues near

and dear to your heart.

T H E ( O ) R E P R E S E N T S

– O B J E C T I V I T Y – The (O) in “FREEDOM” represents “OBJECTIVITY”.Objectivity is something we should be looking for in

every “PUBLIC SERVANT”. More often than not, the

most objective or open-minded candidate may also be

the candidate who will work the hardest for all of their

constituents once elected to office. By selecting the

most “OBJECTIVE” candidates we stand the best

chance of getting the candidates who are more likely

to work for what’s best for America, rather than

what’s best for their own political career or the spe-

cial interest groups backing them.

T H E ( M ) R E P R E S E N T S

– M O N E Y – The (M) in “FREEDOM” represents “MONEY”. You

should take a moment to look up this scripture: 1 Timothy

6:10. In the King James Version of the Bible this scripture

reads: “For the love of money is the root of all evil:

which while some coveted after, they have erred from

the faith, and pierced themselves through with many

sorrows.”

If we can identify the candidates who are the most

transparent whereas their campaign, professional and per-

sonal finances are concerned, we're probably going to dis-

cover candidates who have nothing to hide from us.

Following the money trail will oftentimes lead you to an-

swers that will help you understand why a given candidate

is supporting a specific issue, cause, legislative agenda, or

special interest group. This is not always the case; but

oftentimes, following the money trail is the clearest way

to uncover why a "PUBLIC SERVANT" may be choos-

ing to support special interests over our interests.
