  • Tubing-Conveyed Perforating Systems

Weatherford offers a full range of safe, high-performance tubing-conveyed perforating

systems for onshore and offshore applications.

Tubing-conveyed perforating (TCP) systems enable operators to optimize well flow by detonating high-performance, deep-penetrating shaped charges that maximize perforation length and entry-hole diameter. Big-hole, high shot density systems are available to execute efficient sandface completions, and fully exploit gravel pack and high-rate water frac techniques. Low-debris and zero-debris options maintain the superlative performance and massive entry-hole diameter of traditional shaped charges, while ensuring the wellbore and perforation tunnels remain clean and unobstructed.

Since no two wells are the same, Weatherford recommends an optimized perforating system based on computer modeling customized to the specific parameters of the target zone of interest. Our TCP systems are designed for a full compliment of casing/liner sizes and have a range of charge and explosive types, phasing, and shot densities. Dual firing-head options are available, along with utilities such as gun-release subs, vent subs, surge tools, orientation devices, shock absorbers, and shot detection. In any condition or application, Weatherford has the arsenal of perforating systems to ensure operational performance and efficiency.

Applications Tubing-conveyed guns are adaptable to any application Guns may be run on pipe with most completion applications Guns may be run with wireline under permanent and/or retrievable packers Underbalanced drillstem testing and TCP operations Perforating operations in highly deviated wells

    Features, Advantages and Benefits

TCP systems enable optimum control of underbalanced wellbore pressure conditions, maximizing perforation cleanup.

Large-diameter, multiphased casing guns increase perforation depth and diameter, resulting in perforations with minimum restriction and higher productivity.

The perforation of long intervals in a single trip results in substantially reduced rig costs.

Maximum perforation cleaningwhen perforating the entire zone at one timeminimizes rig costs.

TCP systems enable maximum effectiveness from perforations, decreasing stimulation costs.

TCP systems enable pressure-control equipment to be installed prior to perforating, significantly reducing kill-fluid costs.

TCP assemblies safely and efficiently protect personnel and equipment. With TCP systems there are no electronically detonated blasting caps in the system, preventing premature or accidental firing caused by stray electrical currents. Firing heads are intrinsically safe and insensitive to radio frequencies and require a minimum of 500 psi to initiate detonation, enhancing operational safety.

TCP systems can be run in conjunction with Weatherfords full suite of drillstem-test (DST) tools for maximum well control, fluid and pressure manipulation before and after perforating, and expediting well-killing procedures.

    Options for virtually any application:

Low- and zero-debris charges are available to fit specific applications

Gun lengths and assemblies can be customized for any application Wide range of shot-density and phasing options

Weatherford provides a range of firing head options, from standalone modes to dual firing heads with multiple initiation methods. (Shown here: Drop-Bar/Annular Pressure Dual Firing Head)
