The Holidays are here, and what better way to spend this
time of year than with family and friends. We hope you
will include your Club, Weymouth CC, in those Holiday
plans.
Aleese and Anne have put together a great December,
full of events for the whole family. Our traditional
Breakfast with Santa will take place on Sunday,
December 19th. This event is featuring one of Chris
Taylor’s best brunch displays of the year for both parents
and kids. There is no better way to get into the holiday
spirit than a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus!
For you Parents, we have a Christmas Candlelight Dinner scheduled for Sunday, December
10th. This elegant evening will include live entertainment, and excellent culinary selections
for dinner. Treat your significant other to a great holiday event with great food and high
spirits. Make your reservations with Aleese today.
Other events include Wine Down Wednesdays, Celebrity Bartender Night on Saturday,
December 5th featuring Dave Lurz and Dave Thompson, and of course, New Year’s Eve!
Look for details on these events in this Newsletter. We look forward to hosting these events
for you and your families.
We certainly hope everyone enjoyed the warm weather in October and November. Kenny
and his crew have done a great job shutting down the golf course while allowing member
play during these warm weather weeks. Moving in to the winter months, we will be very
cautious on allowing play over the Winter. To ensure course conditions that you would
expect at a private club next year, please do not access the golf course unless notified by
the Pro Shop that it is open for play. Both Weymouth and Fox Meadow will notify
membership if the course is open during mild weather.
Lastly, many of you have asked about the GM search for Fox Meadow. We are very close to
making that decision. I expect to make an announcement over the next 30-60 days
introducing you to the next GM at Fox Meadow. That being said, I would like to thank all of
you for continuing to support Weymouth CC during my absence. My department heads are
the heart and soul of the Club, and they have performed marvelously. I will be back full time
by early next year, working closely with Fox Meadow to ensure a great product at both
properties. You all have a Club and a Membership you can be proud of moving forward.
Thanks again for your support, and here’s to a great 2016!

Turf Talk with REGIONAL AGRONOMIST
Kenny Aukerman FROM THE GREEN
Could not have asked for a better fall golfing season
this year. Weather has been great, allowing bonus
golfing and additional outside work to continue. All
winterization, aerification, leaf clean up and snow
mold control has been completed. Recent frosts and lower soil
temperatures have finally stopped the grass from growing. I cannot
remember any other November where we have had to continually
mow this late in the season.
With this great weather, we have taken our normally laid off
part-time employees and had them concentrate on dead Ash tree
removal. We borrowed a chipper from Signature of Solon and are
chipping the dead branches as we cut down the trees. This helps
save time and labor from hauling these branches to a burn pile.
There are approximately 150 trees to be removed. You may notice
that we are planting 20 new large trees in areas that affect the way
the hole was intended to be played. More trees will be added as
needed. Stumps will be ground and leveled come Spring.
If the golfing season ends (it will), please remember that
Weymouth does not allow any winter sports (ice skating, sledding,
ice fishing or snowmobiling) on property. This is a liability that the
insurance company does not cover. Weymouth is not liable for
injuries from winter sports. We also request that personal carts stay
off any turf during the winter months.
Enjoy the Holidays!

Does golfing make
you naughty or
nice?
Christmas Golf Back in October a Christmas wish I made.
A brand new set of golf clubs before next year I
played.
Then on Christmas morn, with my eyes I spied
An oblong box under the tree, with ribbon wrapped
and tied.
I looked out the window and saw the ice and snow.
But in my heart I knew, a golfing I would go.
Now I'd need some special gear to play in these
conditions.
So I loaded up my golf bag to start a new tradition.
A broom to sweep the greens and a hammer for the
tees
And different colored balls for white I wouldn't see.
Arriving at the course, the ground was glistening
white.
I wouldn't have to wait, a tee time was no plight.
I swept away a pile of snow and pounded in a tee.
Placed a colored ball atop it and swung away with
glee.
My ball went soaring down the fairway and landed with
a flop
Into a two foot snow drift (unplayable), take a drop.
My next shot went into the sand, a shot to truly dread.
Then all at once I spotted him, a man all dressed in red.
As I'm lining up my shot, it's Santa Claus I think,
When my ball flew in the hole, He looked at me and winked.
I knew these clubs were going to work, I'd just made a par.
Let's play one hole together before heading for your car.
To believe in Santa at sixteen, you might think it queer,
But it isn't very often you get to see reindeer.
A long par three lay next, as we walked upon the tee.
There was no flag to aim for and the green I couldn't see
Don't worry said the man in red, I know what lies ahead.
Use your trusty five iron and aim it for my sled.
I'd like to thank you for these clubs, I wasn't sure that I would get.
He said your welcome son, but Christmas isn't over yet
I kept my head nice and still checked my stance and grip.
"Nice shot" said the bearded one, it's hanging on the lip.
It seems a shame, he must be blind, there's no ball upon the green
And I was disappointed because I stuck it crisp and clean
And now you know my story and know one would believe.
How I made my first hole in one with Santa there to see
~Jeff Opperman
