Have you check that your security lights are working correctly and that when they switch on they are pointing in the correct direction? They do not need to light up your neighbour’s area also. This may be deemed to be a nuisance so check them carefully. When putting your garden items into storage for the winter did you Post Code them all? Have you secured your ladders to the floor or wall with a good padlock? Do you carry out the school run? Before leaving your home you should always make sure ALL your doors and windows are secure? That includes shed / garage doors and be sure your side gates are bolted so that no one can enter whilst you are out. Lamps with timer switches used in both upstairs and down stairs rooms should also be used. Especially, if you leave home early in the morning, and return, after dark. Vehicles are safer stored in a garage rather than a drive but in all cases always remove loose items and when in the home place the keys away out of sight. Never leave keys in door locks. Again, remove them and place them out of sight It literally only takes seconds for the ‘Opportunist Burglar’ to enter your property. If you have uPVC doors do you have the latest lock barrels installed? They should be to TS 007 3* Standard. Recognisable with the orange and black key tab. Wooden doors should use minimum 5 lever mortice standard.
