Principal Ponderings…. Dear Parents, The cold temps are now upon us so please remember to make sure your children are bringing all of their winter gear to school every day. We expect ALL students to have hats, gloves/mittens, snow pants,jacket, and boots. If you are in need of assistance in getting the necessary outdoor gear, please let me know. We do have some donations here and/or some funds to help families in need. Our cold weather guidelines are as follows: If the windchill & temperature combo is 0 to -9 or above, the office determines whether recess is inside, outside or shortened. (Each elementary site can be different.) If the windchill & temperature combo is -10 or colder, it will be indoor recess. Therefore, even when there is a windchill, we do have outdoor recess.
Next Friday is our Holiday Concert and Art Show. We look forward to seeing everyone. Our staff makes an effort to park elsewhere on this day in order to open up as many parking spaces as possible. We will also have the bus corral open for additional parking. Doors to the gymnasium will open approximately 15 minutes prior to each concert. Again this year, Mr. McReynolds will be providing video footage of each concert for your convenience and also to share with those who cannot make it on that day. New this year, our PTO will be selling items that would make great gifts, including Wildcat hats and socks. Our PTO is working on raising additional funds for new playground equipment, which will be installed this spring or summer. Picture Retakes Picture Retake day will be Thursday, Dec. 12th. New order forms are available in the office and the
Picture Day ID to order online is EVT62WFCP. If your student has not had pictures taken yet, they will have them taken next Thursday. If your student needs retakes, please send in the original picture packet
with them to school next Thursday. If you have any questions, please contact the office!!
Report Cards Report Cards are being sent home next Friday, December 13th. Please be sure to sign and return the
Report Card Envelopes back to school!
Hanging Artwork Mrs. White is looking for help to hang student artwork around the school next Thursday, Dec. 12 after
school! We want to hang at least one piece of artwork by each student. If you are able to help, please visit this link to sign up:https://signup.com/go/UmKeGYp. Many hands make light work!! We can’t wait for all
of our visitors at the concerts to view our students amazing works of art!!
Holiday Concert Our Holiday Concert is Friday, Dec. 13th. The times are as follows:
1st & 5th Grades - 10:00-10:35am 2nd & 4th Grades - 1:15-1:50pm K & 3rd Grades - 2:30-3:05pm
There will only be one hot lunch choice on the day of the Holiday Concert. It will be Cheese Pizza. Also,
recess/lunch times will be moved up 5 minutes due to the concert schedules.
Hello Westside Families! The Winter Showcases are Thursday, Dec 13th. In class, we talk about appropriate showcase attire. I encourage them to wear clothes without “big pictures, big words, or big symbols. Please wear clothes that do not have holes in them and safe shoes”. The general idea is that we want outfits that won’t distract from the music students are sharing with the audience.

Ski Club All 4th and 5th grade students are invited to join the Ski & Snowboard Club on six after school outings to
Afton Alps ski area.
The program runs for four consecutive Tuesday evenings: January 7, January 14, January 21, January 28. (Make-up date: Feb. 4). Participants leave from Westside by bus at 3:40 PM and return to Westside around
8:30 PM. Approximate Cost: $190.00 (plus rental if needed: $25 per night includes
skis/snowboard/poles/boots/helmet). Helmets are required and cost $10 for rental. Students can use
personal equipment if in good/safe working order. Registration packets and additional information can be picked up in the school office now. Please refer to the registration packet for details on if lessons will
available for your child this year, or not, as there has been a change from in the past. Due date for sign up will be Friday, December 13th.

Contact Information As we approach the potential for snow days, we invite you to log onto the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to confirm the contact information we have for you is correct. It can be found under the Contact Preferences.
Simply check the boxes and Save to make changes. This is where you can elect to receive text messages on your cell phone. Choosing to receive emergency messages at multiple numbers or shared numbers (such as a work number) increase the likelihood that the message will be received by someone else and not shared. Choosing a cell phone or number unique to the person is recommended if possible
for emergency messages. If any of the numbers or emails listed are incorrect please contact the main office (715-425-1815) to have the changes made in the system.

Our next event will be held on Saturday December 7th from 9:00-12:00 and Wednesday December 18th from 4:00-7:00! Join us for an hour to help ring bells for the Salvation Army! We will be meeting and volunteering at the local grocery stores in town!
