School Purpose - to create a happy, secure and successful school
environment through effective teaching and learning.
Term 2 Week 2 7th May, 2019
PBL Focus of the Week:
How to Handle
Change
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
Welcome to Term 2
NAPLAN
Next week students in Years 3 and 5 will be participating in NAPLAN.
NAPLAN tests the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to
progress through school and life such as reading, writing, spelling,
grammar and numeracy. It is important to remember that NAPLAN is not
about passing or failing but about assessing learning progress. Reports will be
sent home to parents mid August to mid September.
Tuesday 14th May: Language Conventions and Writing
Wednesday 15th May: Reading
Thursday 16th May: Numeracy
Mothers Day Stall
This Thursday our P&C will be hosting a Mother’s Day stall. Gifts will range
from $3—$7. Students will be able to purchase one gift when they visit with
their class and other gifts during lunch time. Thank you to the P&C for
organising this special activity.
Zone Cross Country
On Friday last week 24 students attended the Zone Cross-Country. Every one
of them proudly represented our school with their exceptional behaviour and
effort. Congratulations to all students and especially to Chelsea S who came
first in her age group and is now heading off to compete at Regionals.

Mrs R. Callinan (Principal)
Head Lice
Please remember that Monday
night is ‘Hair Check Night’. We
need to be vigilant with this
practice to prevent the
spreading of head lice.
Mrs Sodhi on Leave
Mrs Sodhi will commence her
maternity leave next week. We
wish her the best of luck as she rests and prepares
for the arrival of her baby. Good luck Mrs Sodhi and
we can not wait for a visit once your baby is here.
Adopt a Farmer
Weston Public is supporting our farmers by
participating in the Adopt a Framer fundraising
campaign. This fundraising activity will be held tomor-
row, 8th May. Students are encouraged to dress like
a farmer for the day and bring in a gold coin donation.
We look forward to seeing their farming attire.
Earn and Learn
‘Earn and Learn is back this year! Parents and carers
who shop at Woolworths are encouraged to collect
the ‘Earn and Learn stickers and deposit them in our
school’s box.
Walk to School
On Friday, 17th May all students are encouraged to
walk to school as part of the NSW Government
initiative to promote healthy living and physical
activity. We understand that this is not possible for
all students however parents may like to park the car
a few streets back from the school and walk part of
the way with their child. We encourage all students
to walk with their peers or a trusted adult.
Name on Clothes
This time of year it is often cold in the morning and
hot in the afternoon and for this reason we have piles
of lost property in our sick bay. Please ensure your
child’s name is on all articles of clothing especially
hats and jumpers.
P&C News

May at 7pm in the staffroom. Everyone is welcome to
attend.
Easter Raffle
Thank you to everyone who supported this
fundraiser, by donating or purchasing tick-
ets. Congratulations to all of the lucky winners.
Canteen
Can parents please ensure they have written or write
on lunch order bags for students as canteen staff
are busy in the mornings and do not have time.
Student Banking
Student banking is every Thursday. Your child can
bank as little as 50 cents.
Great Aussie Bush Camp
Students in Years 5 & 6 will have the
opportunity to attend The GABC in
Term 4 Week 5 (Mon. 11th - Wed. 13th November).
Students have taken home a separate information/
permission note. A non-refundable $50.00 deposit
MUST be paid by Friday, 10th May (Term 2 Week
