Westhill Footy Predictions Challenge Entry Form 2010-11 Season Westhill Footy Predictions Challenge – 2010-11 Season The Westhill Footy Predictions Challenge (WFPC) is a football predictions competition organised by a team of volunteers including me, Dave Tucker, and Steve Boulton, founder of the WFPC. For those who have played before, this is a simplified version of the quiz in that only one set of questions - the 'season' questions - is being sent, although the questionnaire includes questions related to each month of the season - which you answer now - so the rankings will change significantly each month (and monthly questions should add to the enjoyment of following results). For example, as part of the seasonal questions you may be asked to guess the number of sendings off in the Leeds-Millwall match scheduled for February 2011. Unlike previous seasons, you need to answer that with your season questions. Cost and Prizes It costs £10 to enter. The money goes into a pot which is divided up among the top five places, amounts depending on how many people enter. All entry money is returned as prize money - no profit is made by the organiser s. Westhill Footy Predictions Challenge - 2008-09 Season

Westhill Footy Predictions Challenge

Entry Form 2010-11 Season

Westhill Footy Predictions Challenge – 2010-11 Season

The Westhill Footy Predictions Challenge (WFPC) is a football predictions competition organised by a team of volunteers including me, Dave Tucker, and Steve Boulton, founder of the WFPC. It is a not-for-profit, only for fun competition.

How does it work?

You fill in this form with your predictions for the forthcoming football season. If you get them right you get some points. The person who has accumulated the most points at the end of the season wins the competition and a large percentage of the kitty made up of all the £10 entry fees.

Questions

This entry form contains a series of questions asking you to predict a range of events in the forthcoming football season. A variable number of points, indicated on the entry form, is given for each correct answer.

Cost and Prizes

It costs £10 to enter. The money goes into a pot which is divided up among the top five places, amounts depending on how many people enter. All entry money is returned as prize money - no profit is made by the organisers. Usually at least 20 people enter so over £200 will be divided up by five with the top place winning at least £100. (The amount of money offered as the prize depends on the number of entrants.)

Updates of the Westhill "league table"

Everyone will be sent regular updates of the league table rankings of competitors, although hopefully these should also be visible on a special website.

Multiple Entries

Each person may only enter once, but if you know someone else who wishes to enter simply download another entry form from the web site. One person’s £10 is as good as the next and so please feel free to encourage your friends or family to play as well.

Entering in the spirit of things

Please enter into the correct spirit of the competition. For example, I will not accept entries in which, for example, Celtic have been predicted to finish both 1st and 2nd in the Scottish Premier League in the knowledge that they are highly likely to finish in one of those places and thus guarantee the entrant some points. If such entries are submitted, only the first answer will be accepted and the other answers ignored.

Scoring

I’m grateful for people checking up on my having awarded the scores correctly, but in the event of a dispute the decision of the organisers is final.

Deadline for entries and payment

The deadline for sending your entries (by email to Dave Tucker) is midnight at the end of Tuesday 31st August 2010. (Note: we are starting a bit later than usual for this season so you have a bit of 'form' to work with. Reminder: you must answer all the questions, including the monthly ones, with your entry.)

Payment of £10 per entry form is by either cheque or PayPal (or cash in person to Dave or Steve). The deadline for payment is Wednesday 15th September.

Cheques are payable to David Tucker, send to:

Westhill Footy Predictions Challenge - Entry Form 2010-11 Season

Please complete all sections and answer all questions as clearly as possible.

Part One – Who are you?

Name

email address

Some words about you

e.g. the club you support is always worth a laugh, or your past Westhill experiences. Unless you ask otherwise this summary of each entrant will be put up on the web site (if and when it is created). You can also email me a photo

Part Two – The Questions

Write your answer in the right-hand column labelled ‘Your answer’. A correct answer to each question is worth the number of points indicated in the 'Points' column. Some questions have a clarifying Note under them. Please ensure you read the notes before you answer the questions.

Playing your MONTHLY JOKER

Just like on It's a Knockout in the old days, you have a Joker which you can play against one set of monthly questions (three per month). If you are correct, you will get TREBLE the points for a correct answer (e.g. May 2001 has three questions: if playing your Joker for May and answered all three correctly, you would get 10 x 3 x 3 = 90 points (or 30 if you got only one right and 60 for two right)

Section 1 – The English Premier League (EPL)

No.

Question

Points

Your Answer

1

Which team will win the English Premier League (EPL)?

15

2

Which team will finish in fourth place?

25

3

Which three teams will be relegated from the EPL?

Note – You get 10 points for each one you get right. If you get them all right you will receive a bonus to bring your score for this question up to 50 points.

10 each

(or 50 pts if you get them all correct)

4

In the month of September 2010, which EPL team will be the first team to have one of their players sent off in the EPL? (First September matches are to be played Sat 11th)

Note - Enter a team name, not a player name. In the event of a mass scuffle in which players from two teams are sent off at the same time, both teams involved in that incident will count as the correct answer.

25

5

Pick the EPL team you think will finish the season with the most level goal difference.

Note - You get 25 points if the side you select finishes with an exactly level goal difference and you lose one point for each point of goal difference that team finishes with, either side of level. For example, if you picked Fulham and they finished with a goal difference of minus 11 then you would get 25 - 11 = 14 points. If the team you pick is 25 or more goals in credit or debit then you can get a minus score for this question.

25

(minus 1 for each goal you are out by)

6

How many points are going to be needed to avoid relegation from the EPL this season?

Note – The answer to this question will be the number of points collected by the team who finish in 17th place, one place above the relegation zone (even if they are many points clear of the 18th placed team).

23

7

Name any player who will score a hat-trick in the EPL this season.

25

8

Name a club whose EPL manager will resign or be sacked between 1st January and 1st May 2011.

Note - Enter the team name not the manager name. Sackings or resignations will only count if they are made in the period shown. Any managers who die whilst in post do not count. If you think there will be no managerial changes in the EPL in between the dates concerned then put None and if you are right you will get the points.

15

9

Pick one of the following Bolton Wanderers players. You get 8 points for every goal they score in the EPL this season.

a) Johan Elmander

b) Gary Cahill

c) Martin Petrov

d) Tamir Cohen

e) Chung-Yong Lee

f) Matthew Taylor

Note – Own goals do not count. Only goals scored in EPL matches for Bolton count. If a player gets transferred to another team then that is the end of their score for this question.

8

(per goal)

10

Predict the three highest scoring players in the EPL in 2010/11 (in any order). For points, you get 10 points per correct player plus the goals scored (one point per goal) of your highest scoring nominee, but only if he is among the top three (e.g. last season if you said Darren Bent, who came third, you would have got 10 points plus 24 goals = 34 total points).

10 per player (+ no. goals of your highest scorer in the top 3)

11

These EPL teams are predicted (by Dave Tucker) to struggle this season. But which of them - if any - will be the first to concede 25 league goals?

a) Birmingham

b) Blackpool

c) Fulham

d) Sunderland

e) Wolverhampton Wanderers

Note - The answer to this question will be determined by the date on which a team passes through having conceded 25 goals, rather than the time of day. For example, if Birmingham and Fulham both reached 25 goals conceded on the same day then they would both be considered as the correct answer, regardless of which team kicked off earlier that day or let in their 25th league goal earlier in the day. Only EPL goals count.

19

12

Last season, Chelsea thrashed Wigan 8-0 and Spurs tonked them 9-1 (Wigan away each time). Will Wigan let in more than 6 goals in an EPL match in 2010/11, either at home or away? Put Yes or No.

Note: Points scored if Yes is correct include highest no. goals scored against Wigan in a match. e.g. if Liverpool beat Wigan 7-1, home or away, and it is their worst total goals let in you get 12 +7 = 19 points. A No answer, if correct, can only get 12 points

12 if correct (+ goals if Yes)

Section 2 – English, Welsh and Irish Football Leagues

No.
