Western Michigan University Seminar II

Western Michigan University is located in southwest Michigan. The seminar was given

by Dr. John Spitsbergen, which is the head of the department of biology at Western

Michigan.

Dr. Spitsbergen spoke at the seminar on what he focused on, and that is the area of

cellular neurophysiology, and he also spoke to us about Western Michigan REU.

Spitsbergen is currently working with an understanding of the regulation of neurotrophic

factor expression in the peripheral nervous system tissues (blood vessels, cardiac muscle

and skeletal muscle), then to determine the effects of alterations in the expression of

neurotrophic factor with aging and disease.

The seminar offered by the speaker was very pleasing, as we spoke on a topic that is of

great interest today and was a good experience because we could see that can be achieved

by different types of research.
