Western Digital Compliance Data Collection (WDCDC) Form
User Instructions
Contents
General Overview
The WDCDC is an excel-based data collection form that suppliers to Western Digital will use to declare full
material disclosure (FMD) data for their parts and materials. The WDCDC is compliant with the IPC-1752A data
exchange standard.
The WDCDC form is an XML file, recognizable in a filename that is formatted as “filename.xml. The WDCDC is
separated in 10 sections/worksheets which will be explained in this User Guide.
WDCDC Form Tabs:
1. Business Info – This worksheet is divided into three (3) sections: Template Settings, Legal Statement,
and Requester and Supplier Information.
a) Template Settings - It allows user to choose what class of material declaration he wants to
process and to use the function buttons for Import, Export, Reset and View in HTML.
b) Legal Statement - User is required to provide either the Standard IPC legal text or Custom Legal
Declaration in this section.
c) Requester and Supplier Information - Contains important information of both requester and
supplier, e.g. Company Name, Contact Number, Request Data
2. Products - This section provides details of the product for which Full Material Disclosure (FMD) data is
provided. It requires input of the following: Requester Item Number, Requester Item Name, Unit,
Manufacturer (Mftr) Item Number, Manufacturer (Mftr) Item Name, Mass, Unit of Measurement
(UoM) **Note: All required files must contain data because the data is linked to other tabs.
3. Query Lists - these are the compliance statements and/or exemptions applicable to the products
4. Sub Products - This is to be filled out if the Product is an assembly with subparts. It requires: Mftr Item
Number, Mftr Item Name, Quantity (Qty), Mass, UoM
5. Homogeneous Materials -This section is for declaring each homogeneous material in the product. In
this section, these data should be disclosed: Homogeneous Material Name, Mass, UoM
6. Substances - This worksheet provide a detailed breakdown of the homogeneous material used, which
could be a chemical element, compound or polymer. User is required to key-in the following:
Homogeneous Material Name, Level (RoHS, REACH, Requester, Supplier), Substance Category,
Substance Name, CAS number, Mass, UoM, Concentration (5), RoHS exemption (if applicable)
7. File Reference - allows the user to list the files used by the supplier in completing the Full Material
Declaration. If applicable, Name, File Type and File URL are required. Use of this tab is optional for
listing reference documents is optional.
8. Lab Data – Actual lab data is recorded in this tab, including RoHS and halogen concentrations
9. Data Summary – This determines the completeness of the data. It prompts the user when there is an
error in preparing the material declaration or a missed required filled.
10. Revisions – This tab is a record of the revisions to the WDCDC.

Definition of Terms
(1) Product The item that the respondent is supplying (e.g. assembly, subassembly, part, component, raw material). A product may include product families if the products within those families have the same material composition and rely on the same RoHS exemptions.
(2) Subproduct A sub-unit of product. (3) Material/Substance category A generic term for surveyed chemical substances and their compounds. (4) Material Group
A standardized list of groups that homogeneous materials may be grouped into. In WDCDC this is selected from a drop down menu
(5) Full Material Disclosure (FMD) Disclosure of all chemical substances, by Chemical Abstract System (CAS) number, present in each
homogeneous material in a part or assembly (6) Requester
The party initiating the communication when using the request/response communication mode. The requester is the recipient of the supplier’s response.
(7) Substances Chemical elements and their compounds.
(8) Supplier The organization or company responsible for providing the goods and/or services required to produce an electrical or electronic product.
(9) Material Matter that is made up of one or more substances.
(10) Homogeneous Material One material of uniform composition throughout or a material, consisting of a combination of materials, that cannot be disjointed or separated into different materials by mechanical actions such as unscrewing, cutting, crushing, grinding and abrasive processes.
