West Nyack Free Library Spring 2018

We are now embarking upon the Sustainable Library Certification Program offered through the New York Library Association! The certificate encourages activities for proactive application of sustainable thinking in facilities, operations, policy, technology, programming and partnerships. Organizations that achieve certification through this program reinforce their roles as leaders in their communities, ensure that sustainability remains part of their library's process and practice in the future, and receive recognition for their commitment to making their communities stronger and more resilient. We are working with the Green Business Partnership, a company that provides organizations with the tools and expertise that they need to successfully integrate sustainable business practices into core operations. This is the first benchmarking initiative of its kind, and we've already started activities that include an employee survey, policy development, data collection to benchmark resource usage, program design, and outreach efforts in our community. “A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.” - Carl Sagan Often our patrons ask us to help them find their next book. Sometimes readers are not sure what they are looking for - they just want “something good to read.” We ask questions about what types of stories you most enjoy and what you have read recently. We also have a “What’s New” button on our website that highlights books that are trending now. Once we make a few suggestions, our patrons take books home and become immersed in the world that the author has created. Come visit us to check out a book today and begin a magical journey. Dina Rosco, Head of Circulation

From William Heebink, a book on education in honor of Lorette Adams for her many years of service to the Clarkstown Community.
