PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Bev Walker

Hi All! Hope you had a great holiday season. The Christmas party was lots of fun for all. Thank you Sue for all your hard work in organizing the party. The TCM Fun Match is coming up in Feb. Always a nice break from the long winter. I was at the Novi dog show on Jan. 21st to get some scissors sharpened. The entry that day was 1,400 which is pretty good for a Thurs. The entry for Sat. was 2,000. Maybe we are going to see larger entries in 2016. I hope so. That's about all for now. Stay warm and we'll see you all in March.

The end of 2015 was very busy in Rescue Land. Willie, Colby and Kearney have all been adopted.

Since then and going into 2016 we have brought in:

Darby is a 4 year old who arrived because he barked too much for an apartment life.

His foster home worked with him for some time and found a good home for him.

Mandy came out of a shelter. As often happens, the shelter thought she was a

Westie but when we got her, she was clearly a Scottie. We took her anyway and

she remains in care. She has had some medical issues which are still being worked

on. Her liver numbers are higher than normal and we hope to have some resolution

to this issue sometime soon.

Harry was 4 years old and came to us because he wasn’t doing real well with the

baby. Not unusual. But he has found a new home and is doing well.

Stewart was 8 years old. His home had many children living in it and the family

decided to give him a break and let him go to a home without so many challenges.

He has been adopted.

Oliver was only 12 weeks old when he came to Rescue. He had been purchased

through a pet store and has remained in Rescue while he fights off a persistent case

of giardia.

Fez was another one who came in as a Westie but clearly wasn’t. After a couple of

groomings, his breed became obvious. Fez has been adopted by club member

Maggie Piertzak.

Ruby came in at age 9 when her owner passed away. Ruby had severe skin issues.

After some time, they resolved and she found her forever home.

Petey came in at age 5. He was in a shelter and thought to be a Westie mix. We

believe he is probably mixed with Chihuahua which makes for a very interesting dog!

He is about 12# and has a Westie type coat but several features that are more

Chihuahua. He is still in foster care as we try to housebreak him and help him learn

that men are not EVIL!! We would love to have some male volunteers to visit with

him and help him get past his fears. He puts up a good front but has not bitten even

when given the chance. If a man works with him, he settles down.

Emily Anne also came from a shelter. She is 11 months old and was surrendered

due to owner illness. Emily Anne is about 15 pounds and seems to be a happy little

girl. If all goes well with her new brother, Jake, she will be adopted by Club member

Beth Widdows.

In Loving Memory of

Winnie

2002-2016

Winnie, my heart dog. You are and always will be my special angel. You may

think that I rescued you- but you, Winnie-bear, rescued me. We shared a wonderful life together. Your heart and soul were full of love and joy and

gentleness. You gave so much and I learned so much because of you. I love you and miss you so. You were the best. I will see you again-

I carry your heart with me, (I carry it in my heart)

Love, Mommie
