I’m honored to have the opportunity to tell you about WESLI. Founded in 1981, WESLI has been providing high quality English teaching in a family-like atmosphere for over 38 years.

With a strong focus on academic and personal progression for students, we provide the individual learning experience that students want, while helping them make friends... Our goal is that students not only feel a part of the WESLI family, but also a part of the greater Madison community. Our students leave Madison knowing they have found their second home.

WESLI offers a clear University or College Pathway Program for students with a WESLI letter of recommendation being accepted as a substitute for a TOEFL or IELTS score at over 30+ universities and colleges, many of which offer overseas conditional admission.

This program is for students wanting to:• learn to teach English• improve professional skills• develop faciliation and teaching mastery

The 130-hour WESLI Teacher Training Program is designed to train aspiring teachers, or current practitioners, in the fundamentals of English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL) in an environment that encourages collaboration, critical thinking and cultural competency.

This goal is achieved by a balance of theory and practice, with particular emphasis on practical, hands-on experience. The program will provide candidates with the opportunity to apply and reflect upon theoretical knowledge of language acquisition theory, ESL/EFL methodology, and assessment theory in a real ESL classroom.

WESLI’s Teacher Training Program can accommodates groups of educators from abroad for an immersive experience. Schools and government educators can enjoy the relaxing setting of an authentic American experience during the professional certification program.

Social and Cultural ActivitiesMadison is packed with fun things to do, both socially and culturally, to help you immerse yourself in the local community. Whether it is volunteering with a local project, going to see the UW Badgers play football, or exploring some of the great outdoors Wisconsin has to offer, our social and cultural trips are a great way to learn more about where you are studying all year round!

Winter Activities

There are lots of activities, indoor and outdoor, during winter. It is a beautiful time of year! Many students experience their first snowfall here in Madison.

4Devil's Lake State Park

Wisconsin's largest state park is Devil's Lake, about a 40-minute drive north. This is a favorite student activity with beautiful views from on top of the bluff hiking trails or from the basin lake below.

3Milwaukee + Chicago

One hour away is Milwaukee, Wisconsin's largest city on Lake Michigan. It's historic district has an active downtown scene. Chicago is only a 2-hour drive from Madison, too!

Memorial Union Terrace

The University of Wisconsin - Madison's campus hosts the Memorial Union Terrace on the shore of Lake Mendota. This is the best place to catch the summer sunshine, watch the boats pass, and listen live music.

8Volunteering

Students can volunteer in many organizations in the Madison area. Madison's vibrant and diverse community connects across cultures through community events and missions.

Farmers' Market on the Capitol Square

The Dane County Farmers' Market is the largest producer-only farmers' market in the US. This weekly iconic Madison event is located on the Capitol Square every Saturday, just off WESLI's doorstep. Seasonal produce, fresh cut flowers, and local products are displayed in each stand. Try Stella's Hot and Spicy Cheese Bread or try one of many food carts. - a must do for anyone!

Forward Madison FC

Madison's newest football club is located downtown Madison, a 10-minute walk from WESLI. This team is excelling in and off the field. The fan experience is incredible and feels like family. Students can also go to the Badger American Football games at Camp Randall with 80,000+ fans!

Wisconsin is known around the world for its beer and cheese. Both the World Dairy Expo and the World Cheese Championship are held every year in Madison. StudentResidenceOur Student Residence is in the heart of downtown Madison, just a 4-minute walk from the school!

Operated and owned by WESLI, students have the opportunity to live in apartment style accommodation in either single or twin rooms with a kitchen, lounge and bathroom shared within their apartment.

Additional facilities include a community room to meet fellow students or study, laundry on each floor, and free wifi throughout the whole building.

4 Receive I-20 + Get Your VisaAfter you submit all your application materials, WESLI will send acceptance materials including your I-20 through your chosen mailing option. Let us know when you receive your visa to con-firm your program.

5 Confirm Your Accommodation + ArrivalConfirm your arrival information 2 or more weeks before you plan to begin at WESLI.

2 Application Fee + Mailing OptionsSubmit the Application Fee and choose a mailing option.Express Mail is the best way to get your I-20 and accepted materials quickly with tracking.

3 Passport Copy + Financial DocumentsSubmit required document to process your I-20 (for an F-1 student visa)
