China is the leading producer and the leading exporter of tilapia.

The producing and exporting area of tilapia mainly in South East China, along the coastline, the most important district is Maoming in Guangdong province.

The tilapia production and export will continue growth.

The main sustainability constraints identified by local stakeholders includes

Weak market access capability, lack distribution channel (domestic, export)

Low price, Low margin, price fluctuation
