All students are asked to bring a $2 coin to donate to this worthy cause. As winter is upon us and the nights are becoming increasingly colder, we spare a thought for those less fortunate. The theme is “Wear Bright Colours to Support the Homeless”. Junior School Councillors will be visiting classrooms towards the end of this week to tell all of the children about this appeal. Canteen closed on Friday 24 June As Friday of next week is our last day of the school term the canteen will not be open. There will be no snacks for sale at morning recess and no lunch orders available on that day. All children will need to bring their snacks and lunch from home on the last Friday of the term. End of Term 2 Term 2 will end next Friday with an assembly at 2.00pm and dismissal of all students for the term break at 2.15pm. At the final assembly the major fundraising raffle will be drawn and Student Learning and Achievement Awards will be presented to students. Reports End Of Semester Reports can be accessed via the Sentral Parent Portal from Monday 20th June 2016. This will be the first time at Wembley Primary School that our reports will be completely online and not printed. If you are having trouble accessing Sentral, please email the specialised Sentral Helpdesk: [email protected] Wembley Primary School tiqbiz App Dear Parents and Carers, Exciting News! Last Friday we launched a school app called tiqbiz. Each student received a pack containing individual registration information. This app is NOT part of Sentral. For ongoing reporting and individual student absence information, you will still need to access Sentral. The school will be using tiqbiz to send out the school newsletter, general updates, reminders, events and much, much more! tiqbiz is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android Phone, Android Tablet and Windows phone devices. We kindly ask that you download tiqbiz on your device, register a free account then find and tick the school.

Download and register with the tiqbiz app before 9am Friday 10 June and you will go in the draw to win a class prize!!!

Kind Regards, The Communication Sub Committee Prep Enrolments 2017 Families with Prep aged children are advised to submit their enrolment form for 2017 as soon as possible. This week we reached our quota of 88 students and families wanting to enrol for next year and who live outside our designated neighbourhood area are now being placed on a waiting list. If you have children already at Wembley it is important that you complete the enrolment process before the school holidays begin.

Student Attendance Student attendance and time of arrival at school each day is continuing to be closely monitored. Notes were sent home this week for parents to explain student absences if this has not already been done. Students, who have one hundred per cent attendance for the entire of this Semester, will be eligible for the end of Semester Holiday Hamper gift draw, which will be conducted at the final assembly for the term. Students Riding Bicycles to School Another area of concern is the safety of students riding their bikes to school. On Friday afternoon it was reported to the school that several Wembley students were riding their bikes along Wembley Avenue, not holding onto the handle bars and riding unsafely. It has also been reported that students were riding across Francis Street and not using the school crossing. All students who ride their bikes to school are expected to wear a properly fitted safety helmet, obey all road rules and ride in a safe and sensible manner. If students need to cross Wembley Avenue or Francis Street they must do so at the crossings that are supervised by a School Crossing Supervisor every afternoon. ART SHOWS - Term 3 2016 The dates for the Art Shows for this year have been announced and as follows for your information: Junior School Exhibition - Wednesday 27 - Saturday 30 July Senior School Exhibition - Wednesday 31 August - Saturday 3 September. The Art Shows will take a different format this year and this will be explained to parents later this term. Ruth Branthwaite and Matt Symmons, Art teachers have been collaborating and planning the event and there will many exciting things in store for our school community. Payment of School Excursion Levy and Fees Parents are reminded that payment for all excursions is due. Reminder notes were sent out to parents this week via Sentral. To ensure that your child is able to participate in excursions and school visits please ensure that the excursion levy is paid in full. If you need to arrange a payment plan for levies or if you have any questions concerning your account please contact Rosie in the office. Entertainment Books 2017 The new Entertainment Book is now available for sale at the office. The books cost $65 and all profits from the sale of books will go towards our fundraising efforts for the School Grounds Masterplan. An app is also available for parents who prefer to have a digital version of the offers. This year’s book once again contains many offers from local restaurants and attractions and it represents great value for the coming term holidays. Limited stock of the 2017 Entertainment Book is available and parents have until the end of the term to purchase their copy.
