Bolshoi Ballet Live from Moscow: The Taming of the ShrewSunday 24th January, 3pmFrench choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot lands a coup with his adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy tailored to the Bolshoi dancers, and achieves a magnetic two hours of breath-taking dance. NT LIVE: Les Liaisons Dangereuses (12A)Thursday 28th January, 7pmDirected by Josie Rourke, the cast includes Janet McTeer (The White Queen) and Dominic West (The Wire). In 1782, Choderlos de Laclos’ novel of sex, intrigue and betrayal in pre-revolutionary France scandalised the world.Former lovers, the Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont now compete in games of seduction and revenge. Merteuil incites Valmont to corrupt the innocent Cecile de Volanges before her wedding night but Valmont has targeted the peerlessly virtuous and beautiful Madame de Tourvel. While these merciless aristocrats toy with others’ hearts and reputations, their own may prove more fragile than they supposed.

Exhibition on Screen: Renoir – the Unknown ArtistTuesday 16th February, 7pm He is one of the most fiercely debated artists and yet one of the most influential. Picasso collected more Renoirs than any other artist. Matisse revered him. Monet too. He was an artist that was instrumental in creating the Impressionist movement and then totally rejected it and went in a completely new direction - with extraordinary results. The Barnes Collection in Philadelphia has more Renoirs than any other gallery in the world and it’s there that the search begins to tell the extraordinary story of this remarkable artist.

Page 16: Wem Town Hall Brochure January to April 2016

Based at Wem Town Hall, MediaActive Projects C.I.C is a creative organisation and social enterprise that works closely with WTH and a range of other partners to bring new opportunities and investment to the area.

Take a look at our website to find out more about current projects and opportunities www.mediaactive.org

Eyewitness As part of Shropshire Remembers, young people, working with MediaActive, have used creative and digital media to retell first hand accounts of World War 1.

An initiative of MediaActive and developed as part of Shropshire’s WW1 Commemorations, and with Arts Council England support, Eyewitness has involved over sixty young people working with historians, artists, archives and museums to uncover and share some of the ‘stories’ of WW1.

Looking at first hand accounts of the war, including the work of war artists, poets and journalists, along with archive material, photographs, film, diaries, and letters from the frontline and home, young people have created a variety of materials that can be shared with wider audiences, through social media and online platforms.

A selection of the work produced through this project will be exhibited at Theatre Severn between 22nd January and 19th March. An Eyewitness website, profiling the work created, will be launched to coincide with this exhibition.
