Somerset is rightly renowned for its high quality food and drink industry and here at Mid Somerset News & Media we intend to recognise and celebrate that fact by holding an equally high quality food and drink awards in October this year.

The aim of the inaugural Wells Journal & Wells Food Festival Food and Drink Awards is to highlight the strength of the food industry across Somerset, as well as the vast array of high quality food and drink that can be sourced within the county. From field to plate we want to celebrate every step of this vital industry that helps underpin the region’s economy and plays such a huge part in the daily lives of so many that live here. Our vision is to share and celebrate the very best on offer from local producers, raising the profiles of local producers and businesses, and to increase networking opportunities. They also aim to encourage the use of locally sourced products and highlight the culinary traditions of the county.

We are collaborating on the awards with organisers of the Wells Food Festival, which enjoyed a highly successful first year in 2013. Around 3,000 people visited the event last October and organisers hope for even more this year.

Both the food festival and our awards celebration will be held on Sunday, October 12, and will see the county’s top food and drink producers come together in the beautiful city of Wells. This document gives you a brief insight into the benefits of becoming a partner with us, in what we regard as an exciting opportunity to increase awareness and secure future growth in the area.
