Our Exploration in Student-Run Theatre

INTENTIONS OF THE CLUB

• Produce plays separate from the Faculty Production

• Showcase student work

• Provide a space for students to learn and grow in theatrical forms

• Encourage improvisational forms

WHAT WE DID THIS SEMESTER

• Regular meetings, open for anyone who wished to attend

• Improv Workshop (Community Service) on November 15th

• TNT (Tuesday Night Theatre) on December 9th

CLUB MEETINGS

• Discussed what members wanted to produce

• Original intention to do full-length production

• Brainstorm ideas for upcoming events

• “Practiced” improv games, introduced new ones

• Generated more ideas for next semester

IMPROV WORKSHOP• Attendance of around 15 students

• Taught and played a variety of improv games including:

• Hotspot

• Good, Bad, Worse

• Three-Headed Expert

• Cocktail Party

• Freeze Tag

• New Choice

• Death by Story

• Gained sense of teamwork, playfulness, and technique involved in improvisation

TNT (TUESDAY NIGHT THEATRE)

• Next Tuesday, December 9th at 9PM in Faculty Parlors

• Original intention was full-length production

• Open Mic Night for original student work

• Submissions include poetry, scripts, screenplays,

monologues, etc.

• Intermittent improv in which audience can

participate

• Intended to be a night of fun and laughter!

PLANS FOR FUTURE SEMESTERS

• Longer showcases of student work

• Student-produced plays of published works

• Workshops with professionals in theatre and with other clubs

• Writing workshops for student scripts

• Further exploration of improvisation
