Assumptions

People w/ chronic conditions have similar concerns and problems

People w/ chronic conditions must deal not only with their disease(s) but also with the impact they have on their lives and emotions

Lay people w/ chronic conditions (when given a detailed leaders manual and training) can teach the curriculum as effectively if not more so, than healthcare professionals

The process or way the class is taught is as important (if not more) than the subject matter.
