Current Research and Professional Activities

I am currently writing the first chapter of a new book manuscript, entitled Sustainable Diplomacyand the Future of Foreign Policy. The first chapter is a synopsis and analysis of ten books by leading scholars in the field of Religion and Diplomacy. I will have completed a draft of this chapter by August 14th, 2014, as an article I am submitting for publication comprises the core of this chapter. I do not currently have a contract for this book.

I am currently researching and writing a book chapter for the SAGE Handbook of Diplomacy, entitled “Religion and Diplomacy,” which will be published in London by SAGE and edited by Costas Constantinou (University of Cyprus), Pauline Kerr (Australian National University) and Paul Shape (University of Minnesota). It is due in August of 2014 and I expect it should be published some time in 2015 or early 2016.

I am at the beginning stages of laying the groundwork for an edited volume, whose working title is Sacred Texts Through Queer Eyes: A Compendium of LGBTQ Interpretations of Global and Indigenous Religious Traditions. I have begun to identify and assemble my editorial board for this project, which will include queer scholars of religion from Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism, as well as many representatives of Indigenous traditions. This project stands at its beginning, and I am currently in the process of preparing a proposal for respective publishers.
