The mission of Well-U is to improve the health and wellness of University of Rochester employees by promoting a work environment that encourages healthy behaviors, and by
providing the tools, resources, and education necessary to support healthful living. The purpose of this report is to provide an overview the Well-U pro-grams available for University of Rochester employees and data about program use.

An Integrated Approach to Wellness
yOURhealth represents a partnership between the University’s diverse array of wellness programs and services. The partner-ship promotes the integrated use of programs designed to help
individuals manage or prevent issues that impact their life. in 2014, the University introduced the yOURhealth solar system.
This “rebranding” of services showcases the University’s unique health and wellness offerings, while streamlining communication with clear and consistent messaging and an easily recognizable logo.

EmPLOyEE AssisTANcE PROgRAm
The strong Employee Assistance program provides up to five free counselling sessions for each University employee and an additional five visits for each member of their household. 276 new cases opened; 23 cases reopened;116 preexisting cases with activity; 417 total cases Well-U partnered with EAP to provide new burnout presenta-tions.

TAke The sTAIrs Well-U installed catchy signage by all highly-trafficked eleva-tor banks in the Medical Center, reminding employees to take a few extra steps to better their health. Signs include arrows directing employees to nearest stairwell.
fiTNEss cLAssEs crossfit, Zumba, yoga, Pilates, bootcamp classes offered at different times and locations to accommodate varying sched-ules. classes ranged in length from 20 minutes to 1 hour. 7,082 participants (not unique)
A local food share program connecting UR employees with fresh, local, sustainable food. shareholders pick up pre-boxed deliveries of seasonal produce weekly at the medical center from June-september. 78 members

The University of Rochester Farmers Market was implemented by Well-U in March and connects the UR community to sus-
tainable foods from local farmers. Each week, more than 20 vendors offer seasonal produce, baked goods, artisan crafts, spices, meats and more. Market customers can meet the ven-
dors, sample goods, and receive nutrition education and cook-ing tips. By increasing access to fresh, local, and affordable
food, the farmers market is in alignment with Well-U’s mission to support employee health. Open from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday,
March 5 through October 29.

Partnered with the ObgyN Nurs-ing Department to begin offer-ing monthly presentations for expecting employees and their family members, in conjunction with monthly health observanc-es when appropriate. The fee for existing classes offered through strong beginnings were waived for University employees.

A collaboration between Well-U and University of Rochester Parking & Transportation that highlights the benefits of walk-ing, specifically, when going to and from your car and your of-fice. Signage in University parking lots display calories burned
walking between designated parking lots and entrances. Employees who park in a Park & Stride space are entered to win
monthly raffle prizes. The program launched in Lot 1 in July and expanded to Lots 9, 11 and 12.
Pawsitive Attitude
Pet therapy is a powerful stress reliever. This pro-gram allows employees to take a break during the day to visit with friendly therapy dogs. The program was held in Miner Library, URMC. 120
participants.
WEighT WATchERs
hosted four University Weight Watchers meetings. Discounts available for Weight Watchers online, At Work, or in the community. After com-pleting 16 consecutive weeks, employees receive a 50 percent reimbursement of the program fee. 285 participants

AhA gO RED DAy
Well-U encourages faculty, staff, and students to “go Red” for National Wear Red Day, part of the American heart Association’s go Red for Women campaign. go Red for Women was created to raise awareness of the prevalence of heart disease.
in 2014, groups or individu-als sporting red attire were invited to submit a photo to Well-U for the Well-U facebook page, and were entered in the American heart Association’s #goRed-challenge.

Well-U forms a large team for the American heart As-sociation’s annual Rochester heart Walk in April.

The blood pressure chal-lenge is a pledge taken by nearly 100 employers and community-based organiza-tions in the greater Roches-ter area to raise awareness of the dangers of high blood pressure and the im-portance of “knowing your numbers.”

During this 8-week pro-gram, employees wear a pedometer to track steps and record cups of fruits and vegetables consumed each day. Employees compete within their de-partments and with other departments to acheieve the highest numbers.

• Well-U partners with the American cancer society to host the great American smokeout in November, en-couraging smokers to make a plan to quit.
Well-U held three presen-tations on e-cigarettes in addition to a main event in cafe 601 with informa-tion on tobacco cessation. Employees who pledged to quit smoking signed a banner.

The personal health assess-ment (PhA) is a confidential, self-administered question-
naire containing a series of ques-tions about lifestyle habits, health history and current health status. The PhA takes about 15 minutes to complete.
