    1. Part Preparations

There are 4 standard of welding parts preparation:

    a. Single-V b.Single-Bevel c. Single-U d. Single-J

Standard sizes of welding face for

parts that have a cross section area

    more than 4 inches:

    2. Welding Standard

ASTM A285: Welding wire #B 6010 for low carbon steel

    Before After

    4. Welding Drawing

Drawing of actual welding part is difficult and dont need. Symbol could be used to

represent the welding part. The pictures show the example of fillet weld:

    Use of symbol:

    Part Views Symbol

    6. Welding Symbols Location

There are 4 standards related to the location of welding symbols:

    1.

    ISO (International Organization for Standardization)

    2. DIN (Deutcheindustrie Norman)

    3. AWS (American Welding Society)

    4. JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard)

ISO and DIN are the same. AWS and JIS are the same.

    8. Welding Surface Symbols

There are 3 types of welding surface symbols:

    Type Symbol

    Flat

    Convex

    Concave
