WWL Guidelines
• The WWL is a role model for the University and must refrain from all actions that may offend or discriminate against people of any race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national or ethnic origin, physical or mental disability, or marital or veteran status or any other characteristic protected by state or federal laws.
• All WWLs must abide by the guidelines set forth in the Guide to Pride and the Living Factor and all University policies.
• The WWL must be aware of, accept, understand, comply with and ensure enforcement of all University policies and regulations while participating in the Welcome Week program.– The promotion of illegal activities such as drug use or under-age drinking will not be permitted.
• As a Welcome Week Leader you are expected to maintain an appropriate standard of behavior. If you compromise your integrity by violating University policy, or behave in a fashion that would diminish their effectiveness, you will be subject to disciplinary action and possible termination.

WWL Expectations• Arrive on time, ready and excited to work.
• Always be an ambassador for the University, which means representing Hofstra respectfully, openly, and to the best of your ability.
• WWLs are expected to show strong leadership and interpersonal skills, high-energy, self-motivation, school pride, and enthusiasm.
• The Welcome Week Leader (WWL) must display qualities of maturity, leadership, responsibility, integrity and fairness.
• General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing personal assistance to students; informing students of, and referring students to, appropriate information resources; maintaining a safe and orderly environment; and explaining and enforcing University rules and regulations.
• You are expected to establish and maintain a supportive working relationship with all of your fellow Welcome Week Leaders, Welcome Week Coordinators, Orientation Leaders, Resident Assistants, and the members of the Hofstra faculty and administrative staff. – Be aware that any University Staff member is available to help with any problems that
may arise. You are not expected to fix a student’s issue on your own.

• Explore Next Door Trips!!– Student sign up through their portal – hit “My Apps” and click “Welcome Week 2012
END Trips” - starting 12pm on Thursday and ending 3pm Friday.

• Meet the other people on your Welcome Week team!
• Team Ice Breakers with the OL’s• Come up with a team name and a 30 second
promo including your team name. Everyone must be involved in the promo video!

• What characteristics did they have that left an impression on you?
• You have this same opportunity through welcome week, students remember their welcome week leaders, what can you do to make that difference?

they can follow in your footsteps• Manage to have the BEST ATTITUDE possible and
STAY POSITIVE!
Two things to remember
• Being a leader means being engaged, taking charge, and not getting distracted
• You have one chance to experience this opportunity, take advantage of it and be a part of the experience with your students!
Wrap up meeting!• Reminder to read your manuals, we will be going
over it one more time tomorrow before our special game!
• Dinner is provided tonight in Student Center 142 by Napolini’s at 6:00 pm
• Training starts tomorrow at 9:30 am, Student Center Plaza Middle/West
