School Meal Program and Information Did you know Food and Nutrition Services is a special revenue fund that does not receive General Fund Support? As a result, we must balance our budget through meal sales, a-la-cart sales and state/federal reimbursements. The school district has a policy which has been adopted at all schools to accommodate students receiving meals if there are no more funds in their meal account. If charges go unpaid, our ability to purchase food, pay employee salaries and other expenses, is reduced. District meal charging program goals are:

To treat all students with dignity and respect

To maintain a positive experience for your child during meal service

To establish practices that are age appropriate

To promote parents responsibility for meal payments and self-responsibility of the student

District Meal Account Online: Student meal accounts are linked to their Student ID number. Every student is welcome to purchase meals using this account. It is strongly encouraged that families set up their student(s) account online at MySchoolBucks (www.myschoolbucks.com). There is a nominal fee for using the online meal payment system and parents can set up automatic balance notifications and automatic pay-ments.

SB 250 Compliance: (Child Hunger Prevention and Fair Treatment Act of 2017)

Elementary school student negative accounts can be up to (-$11.25) at which point students will receive the daily sandwich meal at no charge until their account balance is positive. Middle school students debt threshold is (-$5.00) and high school students are not allowed to accrue negative balances. If you do not want your student to be able to accrue a negative balance while getting a meal please contact us at [email protected] so that we may “flag” their account. (Accounts can be flagged for a variety of issues i.e. aller-gies, account balances etc.)

Weekly contact is made via email to households for accounts with +$10 or less in order for us to be proactive.

If a household is unresponsive and all efforts have been made to Directly Certify the student as eligible for the Free or Reduced Priced Meal program, the district may choose, on a case by case basis, to determine if the household needs an “Admin Approved” ap-plication for meal eligibility.

Materials and information on our Free and Reduced Priced Meal program, as well as other state and county assistance programs, is readily available at all school offices and on the school and district website on the Child Nutrition Services page. If meal eligibility is ap-proved, it is understood that meal charges incurred prior to approval are the responsibility of the household.

All meal account balances positive or negative carry over to the next school year for returning students and will be addressed at walk-through registration. Funds remaining on account can be refunded, transferred or donated using the MySchoolBucks.

If your child owes money at the start of the school year, this was a debt from the prior year and must be paid promptly. Remem-ber that if you have applied for free or reduced price meals and have a pending application you must pay for all school meals until you receive an approval letter.

Please assist us in making the meal experience pleasant every day by ensuring your child has adequate funds available. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
