The Prelude features Melchior Teschner’s 17th-century Palm Sundayhymn tune (see #280 in our Hymnal) in a version by Georg Friedrich Kauf-mann (1679-1735), organist at Germany’s Merseberg Cathedral. The Of-

fertory was written by Thomas Mudd (ca. 1619-1667), organist at Peterborough Cathedral; thetext states: “Let thy merciful ears, O Lord, be open unto the prayers of thy humble servants, andthat they may obtain their petitions. Make them to ask such things as shall please thee; throughJesus Christ our Lord, Amen.” The Communion music was composed in 2006 by Z. RandallStroope (b. 1953) and is based on a text by the metaphysical poet George Herbert (1593-1633;see #164 in our Hymnal). The Postlude, attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750),pairs a tragic opening soliloquy with an austere three-voice fugue.

StewardshipOur role as God’s stewards is one of our most important roles as Christians.

To help us learn more about stewardship, on the second Sunday of each monthwe are exploring twelve key principles that remind us that stewardship is not justabout money, but so much more. Stewardship is really about our relationship withGod and his world.

In April, our stewardship focus is to give willingly. As we are moved bythe Holy Spirit, we have been prepared to give of ourselves. We give our time,

talents, and resources freely. For more information on the principles of stewardship, visit theTrinity website www.umtrinity.org.

If you would like to assist the Stewardship Committee as we work through the year’s cam-paign, we’d look forward to having you join the team. Please contact either Ann Benson([email protected]) or Sue Smith ([email protected]) and let us know.
