Bereavements Since the summer holidays began, we have been saddened to hear of the deaths of Eamon O’Doherty, John McDaid, Sean McNair and Monsignor Austin Duffy. May their souls rest in peace.

Core Values

Over the course of the last year and a half the Pastoral Team has been working with teaching staff and the Knockavoe Resource Centre to identify a range of key values that could serve as the basis of our daily work within St Columb’s. The outcome of this extensive period of consultation has been the creation of our Core Values Strategy. These values flow naturally from the Rationale and Expectations that lie within our Code of Conduct. We believe that the fulfilment of these Core Values will provide each and every member of the school community with the f o u n d a t i o n ne c es s a r y t o a c h i e ve t h e ful lest Christ ian human development of which he is capable. The Core Values have already been introduced to our students and all elements of the Strategy will be in place by the end of September.

John Paul II Award

The new diocesan co-ordinator of The Pope John Paul II Award is Mr Dominic O’Reilly. He replaces Mr. Justin McMahon, who is taking up a position with the GAA. We wish Justin well in his new position and would like to offer thanks for his sterling work during his tenure. Mr. Thomas Costigan continues to lead the Pope John Paul II Award in St. Columb’s and will be recruit ing before the end of September.

Success for Languages The Modern Languages Department received good news from AQA and CCEA about pupils in Key Stage 3 who had sat GCSE languages examinations early.
