Summer Season!

We’ve had another great summer holiday season, with increased visitor numbers despite the weather not

always being in our favour! We hope you all took a break, and went for a wander around the gardens,

adventured in the playground or enjoyed a bite to eat in the café! It doesn't stop though, the rest of the

introduced a range of Cornishware by TG Green . Started in 1926 TG Green has a proud and long

history of ceramic production. The lathe-turning technique coupled with distinctive blue and white

Meet the Creatives! For this edition, we’re focusing on Alex who owns and runs Gwer Den Studio, located at 6 Artist Muse!

Gwer Den Studio sells refurbished furniture, crafts and gifts as well as running workshops to teach people the skills

to make unique pieces for their own home. Alex is also more than happy to do commissions.

The studio is open Thursday-Sunday, 11am-4pm throughout the winter.

If you were a vegetable, which would you be and why?

“I’d be a home-grown carrot, because they always grow in rude shapes!”

Where’s your favourite place to go on holiday?

“Joe (my son) and I love going to Morocco. My bathroom at home is even Moroccan themed!”

What’s you main inspiration for the work you do?

“I like to create items that follow popular trends, at affordable prices. Demonstrating my

individuality is important, and where I can, I like to add that quirky little touch to pieces.”

What type of workshops do you offer?

“I offer classes in furniture painting and stripping, at reasonable prices to give clients the chance to practise on items and apply

their new skills at home. I’m on hand to give advice and stock Autentico chalk paint for a

professional finish.”

What’s your favourite thing to make/refurbish?

I love producing all my furniture, but my particular favourite is the map furniture. I use

second-hand Ordnance Survey maps, stuck and heavily varnished to create an amazing,

resistant finish.”

What did you do before you set up your own business?

“I was an acting head of Art and Design Teacher at a local secondary school, until I decided

I wanted to start my own business”

What is Gwer Den’s unique selling point?

“I like to think, we offer great value for money considering the

excellent quality of furniture and finish. All of the furniture is

locally sourced, refurbished at my studio, and I am happy to

deliver for free within Camborne, Pool and Redruth.”

Why not pop to the studio to discover lots more

amazing things on offer, including handmade

cards, birthday and Christmas presents as well as

stunning refurbished furniture and soft

furnishings.
