WorldCat Navigator:

• In a nutshell, Navigator makes Florida’s libraries LOOK like one big library with many branches.

• Patrons search one catalog for the whole group.

• Patrons request material anywhere within the group.

• Circulation staff fetch material.

• Material is sent to the right library.

• We call this consortial borrowing.

NRE

• NRE is the staff interface for request management.

• It is used for both the borrowing and lending functions.

• Library staff have access only to the requests made by their patrons, or that have been sent to them as a lender.

• Detailed, hands on exercises and training will be provided once your library completes the required implementation steps.

Request Lifecycle Overview:

1. Patron searches for and submits a request through the Florida Navigator, OR, library staff places request on behalf of the patron through NRE.

2. Lending Library SHIPS the request to the borrowing library.

3. Borrowing library RECEIVES the request, and puts it on hold for their patron.

4. Patron brings item back; borrowing library RETURNS item to the lending library.

5. Lending library CHECKS item into NRE, and the request is now fully processed!
