Swimming and Water Rescue

BSA Aquatics has created two different programs to train Qualified Supervision.

Swimming and Water Rescue is a new training program focused on providing skills training for unit leadership (16 year or older) that

will be acting as “Qualified Supervision” during unit swimming activities.  The training will build upon the policies and procedures outlined in the BSA

Safe Swim Defense Plan.  Paddle Craft Safety is also a new training program for scouts (16 years or older) and Scouters alike.  It's purpose is to train members of a troop and crew how to handle canoes or kayaks for unit

outings.  Both courses are valid for 3 years.Training is available on August 22-23 at Bayport Scout Reservation.

Swimming and Water Rescue is offered from 9:00-5:00 (lunch is provided).  Paddle Craft will begin at 7:00 pm, remain over night and should finish

around noon on the 23rd (Dinner, Breakfast Provided).  The cost is $20 for one course, and $35 for both.

The price includes all meal times.  For more information, please stop by the council Scout

office for a flyer, or contact Dean Gould, [email protected].
