District 73 Annual Convention – ‘Speak of the Devil’We were very proud to present the District 73 Annual Convention ‘Speak of the Devil’,which was held from Friday 18 May 2018 to Sunday 20 May 2018 at The Grand Chancellorin Hobart, Tasmania. There were four wonderful District Contest finals where the winnersare on show below; there were awesome workshops; amazing keynote speakers – CatheyArmillas, our Region 12 International Director, David Fisher and Gavin Baskerville; the

‘Devilicious’ themed Gala Dinner was a highlight of course, but the show stopper was thefabulous District Council Meeting where we voted in the 2018/2019 District Executiveelected roles. We also got to sing to our hearts content as Ta-Daa! transformed usToastmasters into a magnificent choir! If you were not there, we had a great time withoutyou. Yet we are now looking forward to the 2019 District 73 Annual Convention inMelbourne, which will be chaired by none other than our outgoing Club Growth Director,Catherine MacGillivray! Stay tuned for details on venue which should all be revealed soon.

SpeechcraftWhat is Speechcraft?

Speechcraft is a short course run by Toastmasters that covers the basics of public speaking. It’s beendescribed as ‘jet-powered learning’ by participants, and typically runs for four, six or eight weeks. Groupsizes are kept small – usually eight to twelve participants.

District 73 Toastmasters can also run a Speechcraft course at your work. Contact us and we can send ateam of our experienced Toastmasters to your company so your employees can learn without evenleaving the office.

What do we teach?Taking a Speechcraft course will help you improve your communication skills and self-confidence. Youwill learn how to:

deal with nerves and anxietywrite and deliver prepared speechesimprove your impromptu speaking abilitylearn how to give and receive feedback
