LITURGY AND MUSIC

CELEBRATING THE 50 DAYS OF EASTER

Easter Sunday is the greatest of all Sundays, and Easter Time is the most important of all liturgical times. Easter is the celebration of the Lord's resurrection from the dead, culminating in his Ascension to the Father and sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Church. There are 50 days of Easter from the first Sunday to Pentecost. It is char-acterized, above all, by the joy of glorified life and the victory over death, expressed most fully in the great resounding cry of the Christian: Alleluia! All faith flows from faith in the resurrection: "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith." (1 Cor 15:14)

“WE LIVE IN AN EASTER WORLD” There were a number of requests for Fr. Larry’s Easter Sunday homily that relates how as Christians in our lives and in our faith, we move on from what appears to be destroyed, to what is saved because “we live in an Easter World.” Find a link to his Easter homily in the News section of our parish website homepage.

God of Justice, open our eyes to see you in the face of the poor. Open our ears to hear you in the cries of the exploited. Open our mouths to defend you in public squares as well as in private deeds. Remind us that what we do to the least ones, we do to you. Amen. -(USCCB) The Catechism and Social Justice)

LIVING THE GOSPEL

Third Sunday of Easter In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks

Peter repeatedly, “Do you love me?” And when he answers “yes,” Jesus says, “Feed my lambs and sheep.” When we say “yes,” to loving Christ, we then commit to feeding his sheep and helping all those who hunger in mind, body and spirit. Can you think of a specific step you can take this week to feed others as Christ asks?
