WALK TO BETHLEHEM WRAP-UP/ CAMINATA A BETHLEHEM WRAP-UPThank you to all who participated in The Walk to Bethlehem in anticipation and preparation of the birth of Jesus! It was another successful journey consisting of 12 weeks that began September 29 and ended December 21, 2019. With 81 people signed up, the group had an overall total of 28,110,903 steps or 14,055 miles! While we fell short of making it back to Columbus by a little over 1,000 steps, that is a true testament of our parishes living a life in Christ through prayer and action. In celebration
of a job well done, walkers, you are invited to a pizza party at Planks Bier Garten, Sunday, February 9 at 4:00 p.m. And, as usual, expect some surprises! RSVP after Mass in the back of church by February 2, contact the parish office at (614) 443-2828, or send an email to [email protected] by Thursday, February 6.¡Gracias a todos los que participaron en El camino a Belén en anticipación y preparación del nacimiento de Jesús! Fue otro viaje exitoso que consistió en 12 semanas que comenzó el 29 de septiembre y finalizó el 21 de diciembre de 2019. ¡Con 81 personas inscritas, el grupo tuvo un total de 28,110,903 pasos o 14.055 millas! RESPECT LIFE MASS 2020/RESPETO A LA VIDA MISA 2020Respect Life Mass is Wednesday, January 22, 2020, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral. Bishop Brennan will be the celebrant. On this day of the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision, our diocese will join all dioceses of the United States in observing a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. All are invited. This weekend is the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, and I often wondered why Jesus needed to be baptized? He was sinless and John preached that his baptism was a "baptism of repentance" for the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus humbly submits Himself to Baptism to show that He is "all in" to God Will; His Baptism is the beginning of His mission to redeem us all! For Christ to be numbered among us (sinners), truly shows His love for His Father and each one of us!
At Jesus' Baptism we see God the Father happy that Jesus was baptized and the Holy Spirit was also there, anointing Jesus for His ministry that began as He came out of the Jordan River!
The humility Jesus showed during His Baptism is an example for us – it was a "transformation" to do His Father's will no matter what it takes!
May we strive to see our lives truly transformed like Christ to do God's Will using the Holy Spirit, so we may be a true instrument of the gospel!
• Pray for Pope Francis and those who lead the Church, especially Bishop Brennan
• Pray for those affected by natural disasters and acts of violence (Wildfires in Australia; Floods in Indonesia; Middle East, especially Iran; Earthquake in Puerto Rico)

Este fin de semana es la Fiesta del Bautismo del Señor, y a menudo me preguntaba por qué Jesús necesitaba ser bautizado. No tenía pecado y Juan predicó que su bautismo era un "bautismo de arrepentimiento" para el perdón de los pecados.
Jesús se somete humildemente al bautismo para mostrar que está "todo dentro" de la voluntad de Dios; ¡Su bautismo es el comienzo de su misión de redimirnos a todos! ¡Para que Cristo sea contado entre nosotros (pecadores), verdaderamente muestra Su amor por Su Padre y cada uno de nosotros!
¡En el bautismo de Jesús vemos a Dios Padre feliz de que Jesús fue bautizado y el Espíritu Santo también estaba allí, ungiendo a Jesús por su ministerio que comenzó cuando salió del río Jordán!
La humildad que Jesús mostró durante su bautismo es un ejemplo para nosotros, ¡fue una "transformación" para hacer la voluntad de su Padre sin importar lo que haga falta!
¡Que nos esforcemos por ver nuestras vidas verdaderamente transformadas como Cristo para hacer la voluntad de Dios usando el Espíritu Santo, para que podamos ser un verdadero instrumento del evangelio!
• Ore por el Papa Francisco y aquellos que dirigen la Iglesia, especialmente el Obispo Brennan.
• Ore por los afectados por desastres naturales y actos de violencia (Incendios forestales en Australia; Inundaciones en Indonesia; Medio Oriente, especialmente Irán; Terremoto en Puerto Rico)

2019 BISHOPS ANNUAL APPEAL UPDATE/ACTUALIZACIÓN ANUAL DE APELACIONES
DE LOS OBISPOS 2019Corpus Christi and St. Ladislas each received a Bishop’s Annual Appeal refund check from the 2019 BAA. As explained during the appeal, any amount raised over the parish’s given goal for that year is given back to the parish. In December, Corpus Christi was refunded $1,150.00 and St. Ladislas received $634.00. Two additional refunds are scheduled in April and June of this year. We are grateful for the generosity of our parishioners in exceeding both of our parish goals for the 2019 appeal. Thank you.Corpus Christi y St. Ladislas recibieron un cheque de reembolso de la Apelación Anual del Obispo del BAA 2019. Como se explicó durante la apelación, cualquier cantidad recaudada sobre la meta dada por la parroquia para ese año se devuelve a la parroquia.
