DAILY & HOLY DAY MASSES
(See inside bulletin for schedule)
FROM THE PRIESTThere seems to be more “fear” in the air these days...it can lead us in many directions in life...it leads us to panic mode and run amuck, or it leads us to faith! In the Gospel, I think the fear we hear about in the gospel is Godly fear – its reverence for the One who made us in love and who holds us up in kindness! The biggest loss we feel is not physical but spiritual – the loss of God in someone’s heart! A healthy balance of Godly fear leads one to spiritual maturation instead of pride of oneself!May we always trust in the power of God’s love that can conquer any fear we face and carry any crosses for Him with the graces of the Holy Spirit!• Pray for Pope Francis and those who lead the Church, especially
Bishop Brennan• Pray for those affected by natural disasters and acts of violence
(COVID-19 crisis; China-India dispute; Lebanon; violence due to racism)
• Pray for Sister Mary Berendt, OSF who passed away June 11, 2020. Eternal Rest grant unto Sister Mary, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. There will be no funeral at this time. There will be a burial with 5 Sisters in the Congregation’s administration there. The memorial Mass will be in the future.
• Pray and congratulate those who are fully initiated into the Church this weekend!
• Pray and congratulate Ixchel Vazquez-Smith who is receiving her first Holy Communion during the 11:00 a.m. Mass!
• We will have a joint parish council meeting, June 22, 7:00 p.m. at St. Ladislas; if there are any issues, please contact a parish council member.
• Saturday, June 27 is the Feast of St. Ladislas – we will have Mass 9:00 a.m. at St. Ladislas; all are welcome!
• You may have seen an article about St. Mary’s impending purchase of the Golden Hobby Shop. This is an exciting move for our school and church! The reality is that our school has grown significantly and is now occupying about 85% of the parish building space. The purchase of the Golden Hobby Shop will allow for the expansion of our school and provide the needed space for our growing student body. And what’s more, the building will be returned to its original purpose – educating young people in our community! We just want to ensure you as parishioners get a full picture of this community development. Please let us know if you have any questions.
• A Blessed Father’s Day to all fathers, grandfathers, godfathers & stepfathers and those who have Fatherly qualities! May your love radiate effectively the love of God to your family and those whose lives you touch! God’s blessings be yours in abundance. We keep our fathers, living and deceased, in our prayers this weekend.
God, our FatherBless these men, that they may find strength as fathers.Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them alwayswith a spirit of profound respect. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord. AMEN.

Vince NguyenPastor

I Praise You, For I am Wonderfully Made Responsorial Psalm 139:1b-3, 13-14ab, 14c-15
R. I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.
O LORD, you have probed me, you know me: you know when I sit and when I stand; you understand my thoughts from afar.My journeys and my rest you scrutinize, with all my ways you are familiar.R. I praise you for I am wonderfully made.
Truly you have formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb.I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made; wonderful are your works.R. I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.
My soul also you knew full well; nor was my frame unknown to youWhen I was made in secret, when I was fashioned in the depths of the earth.R. I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.
St. John the BaptistPatron Saint of Converts, Baptism
Feast Day: August 29
John was a cousin of Jesus Christ and began his ministry around his twenty-
seventh year. He gave up all worldly goods to spread the word of the coming
Savior. He survived during his travels by eating locusts and wild honey. John
brought many believers to the Christian faith. Later, he baptized into the Lord his cousin Jesus and then told his disciples
to follow Christ. Herodias beheaded John because of the words of a jealous
and wicked woman; his head was brought to her on a platter. John was
then buried in Samaria.
Prayer to St. John the BaptistDear Baptizer of the Lord,
I ask for your strength as I try to spread God’s word in my own small way. When I speak of my newfound love for the Lord
to others, let them feel the dedication and respect in my heart. Give me the fortitude to be a good Christian and
help me to help others come to know and accept Christ as well. Amen.

JOHN [THE BAPTIST] CHALLENGES US CHRISTIANS TO THE FUNDAMENTAL ATTITUDE
OF CHRISTIANITY—TOTAL DEPENDENCE ON THE FATHER, IN CHRIST. EXCEPT FOR THE MOTHER OF GOD, NO ONE HAD A HIGHER FUNCTION IN THE
UNFOLDING OF SALVATION. YET THE LEAST IN THE KINGDOM, JESUS SAID,
IS GREATER THAN HE, FOR THE PURE GIFT THAT THE FATHER GIVES. THE ATTRACTIVENESS AS
WELL AS THE AUSTERITY OF JOHN, HIS FIERCE COURAGE IN DENOUNCING EVIL—ALL STEM
FROM HIS FUNDAMENTAL AND TOTAL PLACING OF HIS LIFE WITHIN THE WILL OF GOD.
REFLECTION BY FRANCISCAN FRIARS FRANCISCAN MEDIA
Mother Teresa: On LifeThe first person in the world to welcome Jesus, to recognize him in the womb of his own mother, was a child: John the Baptist.
It is wonderful; God chooses an unborn child to announce the coming of his redeeming Son.
